I can't answer that.............if my woman ever found out how much I really have in my firearms (and holsters, and scopes, and reloading equipment) ......she would kill me.

I voted as you stated, gun value only, and did not include cost of scopes, grips, cases, holsters, and etc. Then there is also all the reloading equipment, gun cabinets and ammo. It can mount up in a hurry, and eleven grand is a drop in the bucket just for guns.

Although my fishing equipment (including a very expensive bass boat) and antique clock/watch collection far exceed my gunning hobby.

Ask that over on the Smith and Wesson forum. You'll need to add some zeros to those numbers. Some folks take this stuff very seriously.

" How much money do you have in your collection."

very little money in my collection...but I have several firearms.

No way! According to latest research, every Facebook user on earth is separated by only 4 degrees. I tell you and next thing I know, my wife knows the number too.

I'll start a poll with money spent vs time acquired at some other point or if someone else feels the need.

11k is nothing for someone who has been shooting 20 years but for the guy who picked it up last year...

I know 11k isn't a ton of money but I wanted to see how many people have a moderate/budget collection.

I would also argue that 11k would buy you a gun for most every purpose so that's why I picked it.

Wait.... People collect guns?

I always thought that the most you can shoot at a time is two. Why would anyone have more then that???

I wouldn't call two a collection...

Um, I find my self in the same position Vaskeet is in. 2 of the pistols in my collection each already list higher than your limit.

That is the best kept secret in my house. Not even my best friend knows the answer to that one. I won't even admit it to myself. :)

My goal is that when I die, I can pass on firearms in numbers equal to my age! I'm not there yet (dead or numbers) but I get closer every year!:p

I can't remember who said it but I always like this, and it does apply;
"one of my few fears is that when I die, my wife/kids will sell my guns for what I paid for them"!

How much money do I have in my collection? No money, only guns, ammo, optics, some leather & nylon, reloading equipment, components, etc....

And considering I have been collecting things like that for the last 4 decades, well...there's a few things there.

Now, how do you judge that money? By what I paid over the years? Or by what they would bring on the market, today? Replacement cost? (and some of them can not be replaced, like my grandfather's Flues model Ithaca double, or my fathers match grade Colt Government model? - sure, you could find comparable guns, with enough effort and cash, but you could never replace them, really).

lots of things to consider. I think I may have more than the $11K limit in reloading components.....especially at today's prices!
