How much for 9mm?............

BigJim, you're right. I too use a 650 and I can easily crank out 1,000 rounds in an hour.

Why on earth would I factor in my time for a hobby? It takes me 20 minutes to go to my local Walmart, you figure another 15-20 minutes in the store and another 20 minutes driving home. In that time I could easily load 1,000 rounds. Do you figure in your gas and driving time into the cost of a box of ammo when you post on the forums "I paid $15 for a box of 9mm today"?

Of course not.

It's a hobby, therefore I don't figure in the cost of my time.

The crazy ways people try to justify not reloading is pretty funny.

Around my area 9mm is considerably lower priced than other ammo.Sometimes it can be found for $12-$14 for a box of 50.
for that reason alone,I am contemplating getting myself a 9mm semi auto.Just need to find one for a decent price that has a steel frame.i just can't see a poly frame for a handgun some reason.I'm sure they are probably fine, just not for me.

I think WWB is running about $16/box here (50 rounds).

But... I'm with Sturmgewehre and BigJimP. I might spend 12-18 hours loading pistol rounds, in a year... but, I enjoy it. I like knowing that I'm putting a quality product in my pistols, with a load that was tuned specifically for those firearms.

Even if I didn't enjoy reloading; 12 hours of my time will yield enough ammo for me to shoot for an entire year. If I toss in another 6 hours, I can donate enough ammo for one of my brothers to shoot for 8-12 months - or, just shoot more, myself. :D

Like them, I can reload at current component prices for less than $6/box. However, I buy in bulk, when the buying is good. My current cost is about $3/box (50 rounds) for FMJs and HPs, and just over $2/box for lead.

Like I said above - I know the quality of the product. I don't have to worry about the factory accidentally loading a Titegroup equivalent into a lot that is supposed to receive a W231 or Blue Dot burn rate equivalent. (Those are powders, for you non-reloaders. That switch would result in a really bad day for the shooter.)
I also don't have to worry about opening a box of ammo, only to find a horribly crunched round, or missing primers.

Picked up a box of 250 UMC (Mega Pack) 9mm at WW last week for $51.97. Comes out to $10.39/50. Not the best ammo but I need to blast off a bunch in a new pistol & didn't wanna blow through the "good stuff" that I have stock piled. Oh, it's not just loose ammo poured in the box, it's 5 plastic trays of 50, just like come in boxes of 50.

I seriously think that the term "call BS" should be banned from the site. Every time I've seen it used it sounds like a drunken blowhard is talking out his southern orifice.

WWB 100pk for $22 is about as much as I want to pay for brass. $9.99 for AL Blazer 50rds is the best bet works in all my pistols when I can find it. Recently when I cant get brass less than 11 bucks i been shooting wolf in my beaters.

So my bottom line is no more than $11 for brass, not more than $10 for non-brass for me,
Mike

Obviously a pricing error. Saw something similar on .45ACP awhile back. I'm gessing the WW employee jumped right to it to make it right....:D
