+1 orionengr ... I'm 65, lived and worked in SF for more than 30 years; when I retired, we headed for Texas and I got my CHL six months later ... had it since mid-2004, so 6 years and counting for me ... for those of you still living in the few states which don't trust you if you're armed, believe me, there is nothing like slipping on your SD firearm every day, knowing that your rights are respected by the folks who run your state. I wouldn't move back to CA for a free house on the PCH ...

The grand (and still free) state of Alabama has seen fit to bless me with a carry permit for the last 36 years!

This month is the 3 year mark for me... unfortunately in MO, the CCW permits need to be renewed every 3 yrs. That means I have a trip to the Sherrifs Dept, DMV, and $100 fee to look forward to this month

You didn't include a choice for under five years. I got mine last year for the first time, right after I bought my first handgun. I wonder how many there are like me? Lots, I'm told.

I live in one of the slowest states to get concealed carry -- Ohio. (I didn't say THE slowest, just one of 'em!) When we finally got some form of it, it sucked out loud. I won't go in to details, but if anyone reading this has been in Ohio since concealed carry was adopted, they'll know what I'm talking about. It has improved a little bit at a time over a long period of time. We still have many things here to fix.

So I finally got on board with it about two years ago and I'll never be without it.

Had mine 16yr. 11-years in MA. I hear they won't give any more out these day's. I am so happy to be in Florida now no more B.S.from the sorry state of MA.

Having lived in Vermont all of my adult life, I never needed one. Now that I live in Florida, I need one - and I have it. Less than a year. At my age, if I have it for as long as some of you guys, I'll be alive and carrying past 100!:D
