I am 50+ years old.

After living in CA for 20 years and IL for 3 more, I finally moved to a Free State six years ago.

Had my TX CHL ever since (well, as soon as I achieved the six-month residency requirement). As Mark Twain said, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could."

As it happens, it wasn't all that quick, but I'm glad I made it :)

15 for me, but Arizona has only been offering CCW permits for about 16.

Before that, we carried openly without a permit, since it isn't needed for open carry.

It isn't needed for concealed carry either as of about a month ago.

I've had my permit for 5. Kentucky allows vehicle glovebox carry so I often carried that way prior to getting my license.

Fifty one years. Had to replace it twice, once it just wore out in my wallet, another time it went through the washing machine. Now they are laminated but such technological advances were not available in the early days. :)

After a couple of days I just remembered I had a Mass. license for three years prior to my NY license, so the real answer is 54 yrs.

15 years.
JimPage- I had the washing machine problem too. It didn't help that they actually used white out on the permit when you got rid of a gun in my county.
After a trip through the washer I magically doubled the # of guns I owned.

Total would be about 15 years. Initially I had one waaaaay back when it was "may issue" and you had to go through quite a song and dance to get one. Somehow I managed to get one.

I let it lapse and didn't carry or even own a firearm for a span of years (I don't really know why) and then one day "woke up" and said "what the heck am I doing?"

By that time Va was a "shall issue" state and the process was a LOT more straightforward than previously.
