Good timing, Glamdring. You .350 Rem mag guys, there's a guy at Auctionarms right now on the wish list who says "I wish someone needed my .350 Rem Mag ammo".
Only slightly off topic, but what about wildcatting the new 300 WSM up to a 35? I've been thinking about this since I first saw the round and have started a thread on it in reloading (please join in here or there).
Steve M: Why? You wouldn't have anything different from a 350 Rem mag in any practical terms. Or any real advantage over a 358 Win loaded to same pressures.
I mean if your just wanting a wildcat project for the fun of it, then I would understand.
I don't own any of these but since reload ran across some of the data in manuals and the 356 winchester peaked my intrest. It looks like something i could reload with pistol bullets for my primary shooting activities(just fun shooting) but with "real" bullets it could do anything else I could ever need. I would want it in a "handy rifle" so probably a lever which is why i was leaning toward 356 winchester. Any thoughts???
As to why, in the original posting here, the .35 Remington doesn't count as a .358 caliber rifle. If it mikes out in the bore as .358", and the barrel is longer than 16", it sure smells like one to me. Of course, I've been saving up a big batch of .35 Remington brass for my eventual purchase or a .35 Remington Model 8 or 81 one of these days, to sit in the stable with my .32 Remington and .300 Savage autoloading Remington/Brownings...
Taking it out for southern AZ whitetail this fall. Maybe not the ideal rifle for this hunt, but got the chance to buy it, before I stumbled over anything more "apropriate" for the conditions, and can't fit another into the budget this year.
