My answer would have been different just a couple of years ago. But a job change/divorce/alimony:mad: (all=less mula) in conjunction with increased GAS prices (can we still blame W.;)) has somewhat 'changed' my lifestyle. So whereas I used to shoot at least 1.5K per month which was far fewer than most of my buddies (this includes trap) I now am somewhere around half of that (I even bought a GSG 1911 .22lr to save more cash). Nevertheless, shooting is fun as long as I hear a bang so it beats not shooting at all. Conversely, I know a lot of people that maintain safe queens by the dozens and rarely shoot (yet they are extremely knowledgeable about guns and somehow find as much pleasure researching and studying weapons history and the like). I too have been reading much more latley about guns from an historical perspective as it quenches my lust for guns at least to a degree when I am not actually shooting. My NRA participation also is a hobby of mine that involves shooting absent actually shooting 'if that makes sense:confused:.'

Some people seem to "apologize" for shooting .22LRs from a handgun. It is still shooting. You get the sight picture, trigger control and the feeling of doing it right. Shooting .22 ammo is every bit of practice shooting and then some. If you have good habits you will get better. Of course, if you have bad habits you won't do yourself any good but it is still fun.

Good point--I am guilty of this at times and still prefer to shoot 9, 45, etc. but there is absolutely nothing wrong with shooting tons of .22lr via either a revolver or pistol--it can only further enhance your shooting skills. I have a 1911 in .22lr but I am thinking about getting a Taurus Tracker:

Now that the USPSA is starting up again I'll shoot about 4-500 a month. Off season about 100 monthly. I spend more time shooting my mouth off than shooting in the winter....lol.

I shoot a lot ...its a major hobby ...

....and I get to the range at least twice a week.....4 to 8 boxes a session ( mostly 9mm)...but I mix in my revolvers in .357 mag too .....and some .40S&W and .45 acp ... so its at least 12 boxes, or 600 rds a week ....but I reload everything - so it keeps the cost down ( and I know I shoot more because I reload).

Just picked up 600 rounds (mix of 9x19 and .380) to blow off at the range here in bout 30mins, gotta make up for not having shot in about a month (having withdrawls).....:D

I get to the range 2-3 times a month. Unfortunately its an indoor range
with poor ventilation and I'm destroyed for a day or two due to having
copd..:(

Late fall through the winter and early spring I am with the majority of the voters, 250 to 500 rounds a month. Summer time it goes way past that amount but summers seem to go by distressingly fast the older I get.

There is nothing wrong with shooting .22 pistols.

MisssissippI Dave,

That model is nothing short of a REAL 'Looker' and only the most 'disciplined' individual could possibly resist the natural inclination to add said piece to his collection! Admittedly that trait does not describe me so it's on my 'short' list.
