How many of you gun nuts are knife nuts too?

Oh, I definitely enjoy acquiring knives, too.

Most of my knives are working knives, tho there are some I purchase simply because I admire their workmanship / appearance.

For sheath knives, I prefer Randall. For hiking and camping a Randall model 5 5" blade is always 'beanered to the left strap of my day pack -

Black sheath, black handle against a black shoulder strap - most people never notice. :)

I also have various tactical folders, lock backs, pocket knives, etc. Even our kitchen knives are selected for their workmanship, edge retention and ease of resharpening (by me).

Yeah... I like knives.

Yeah.....at this point knives are becoming a real sickness for me..........spending too much money on them...........and they're the reason I've been neglecting this forum lately.

And let me just say that bladeforums.com is not the place to go if you like knives........trust me.......if you go there, the sickness will become worse........you will want more.......and more......AND MORE !!!...it will never end.............run !.......run like the wind!!!.

Guns cause crime like spoons cause Rosie O'Donnell to be fat!

I hunt, therefore I am.

I have 12 Mad Dog knives, an Emerson, 3 Cold Steels, and an assortment of various folders (SOG, Buck, Spydeco). Is that nuts enough. (I guess I have around 50 guns too).
Oh yeah, forgot, have several bayonets to go with my miltary type rifles.

I guess I'm the only person on this Forum who is made uneasy by the casual way in which we use the terms 'gun nut' and 'knife nut'.
If we are willing to apply to ourselves the perjorative terminology favored by hoplophobes, we are in danger of losing the public relations war that is raging around the ownership of guns, and knives as well.
Image is everything. Don't let some gun-grabbing busybody have an excuse to claim that we are 'nuts' and even admit it ourselves.
I own several guns. I also own and ejoy the use of several quality knives. I enjoy shooting, and value the security that owning firearms provides. I am not a 'nut'. 'Nuts' are forbidden to purchase or own firearms, and I, being a perfectly sane and a solid citizen, choose to exercise my right to 'keep and bear'. Don't call me a nut. And do yourselves a favor and don't call yourselves that, either.
Rant mode off.

If they take our guns, I intend to let my hair grow long and acquire the jawbone of an ass.

Nothing like my craving for guns but yes, I have a few knives. I like the old Case folders along with the old bird knives with a gut hook. I've picked up a few of the old pen knives that have advertising on them from back in the 40's and 50's. I've even tried my luck at making a few sheath knives. Since I have a fairly large company here within 10 miles of me that makes all the need pieces and parts I suppose it was inevitible that I would try it.

Am I a knife nut ? Well my wife asked me what I was going to do with all those knives I have in the safe so I guess I qualify. Personally I don't think 35 knives are to many but what do I know, I'm only a gun nut.

My daily carry:

This isn't just any Sifu in a one-off prototype belt slide scabbard - it's serial number one because I was the one that convinced REKAT to build this 5.45" blade length beast.

Weekend carry:

9.5" blade (as measured from lower guard) one-off custom based on my own blueprints and exchanged plexiglas models with custom maker Harald Moeller of BC, Canada.

The sheath is just as radical, based on my blueprints, built and fine-tuned by Scott Evans of Edgeworks Tactical, NC.

I have a vast and varied collection of knives. I have been collecting for over 30 years. I tend to lean towards folders over fixed blades. I prefer to collect high-end autos although the majority of my collection is mid to high-end folders.

I miss FUD.. where are all those "knives" when you need them? ;)

At any rate.. perhaps not a knife nut, but I only purchase quality knives as I only purchase quality firearms. You need a good knife just like you need a good gun. :D
