After consulting with several mechanical engineers, I've finally accepted that there is no such thing as resting a spring made by modern metalurgical standards. Springs will only take a set if stretched too far or compressed too much. Keep 'em all loaded and download by one.
Unless of course you're like some TFL'ers who have more mag capacity than they do ammo.
I keep three mags loaded at all times.
2 mags for the H&K USP .40 compact w/ WInchester Super X hollowpoints
1 mag for the Taurus PT-911 9mm w/ Federal hydra shok hollowpoints
Just the one in the gun. I dont plan on getting into any sustained gun battles so I dont see the need to keep all my mags loaded.
When I carry, sometimes i'll have 2 loaded. Gun and a spare.
I dont keep anything loaded around the house except the one in my weapon. I figure is anyone breaks in and I can't hit them with 11 rounds plus my MB500A, then I shouldn't be shooting.
Just curious. If you have a fully loaded magazine sitting at home for awhile now just waiting for that " in case of emergency" time. Does, or will the magazine coil spring somehow weaken or become damaged keeping it loaded the whole time though not in use or firing? This is why I put away my semi-auto pistols aside unloaded while keeping a loaded revolver handy for that time which I hope never comes to pass.
