How many HD Shotguns do you own?

I have 10 or so shotguns and if need be all could be HD but the only one that you could really call HD is a Ithica I have that was passed down to me through the generations

Just my Win 1300 Defender. I like it, but am not in love with it. I grab my XD and flashlight for bumps in the night and if I were to grab a long gun, I would pick my Mini-14 that is next to the Winny, just because I shoot it better and am more proficient with the manual of arms.

I have a Mossberg 500 and a Remington 870 both have 18" barrels and both are used for HD. One is on the 1st floor and the other on the 2nd floor and both are ready to go.

any gun

"any gun for SD"

Well that's certainly true. You can take a nut off with a pair of pliers too, but there is such a thing as the right tool for the job.

I have one of the short BAikAL coach gun SXS in the bedroom w/ an ammo cuff. My 20" Rem 870 turkey gun gets a mag extension in the off season and is "cruiser ready" in the safe in the den.

Nothing HD specific but I have a 20 inch 97 Winchester and an 18 1/4 inch Stevens 311 coach gun that would do nicely.

I have an HK tactical semi auto but it stays in the safe. The one beside the bed is a mossberg 590 pump with an 18" barrel and the plug removed.
I had a 20ga identical mossberg but recently traded it.

Agree with Ricky. I have a Mossberg 500 assigned for that duty. Should it fail for any reason, I have an AR with a mag loaded just in case.

"I can only shoot one at a time, how many do I need?"

What if your one and only gun breaks at the range during practice?

You need 4 of any gun used for self defense.

1. If you only have one, you do not have a back up.
2. If you have two, you have a primary and a back up. What if you primary breaks? You then have no backup.
3. Therefore, you need three as a bare minimum.
4. Who wants to do just the bare minimum for self defense? Make it 4.

You need four.
