How Many Different Holsters for the Same Gun?

I was reading a thread in a different section of the Forum that triggered a thought:

How many different holsters do you have for the same gun?

My EDC gun is a Kimber Stainless Pro Carry which I carry in a Galco Belt Holster. I also have a shoulder rig and a IWB holster, all for the same gun. When I ride my motorcycle, I carry the gun in a chest-carry holster which is basically a military helicopter pilot holster. So that makes four holsters for the same gun.

To take this one step further, I normally carry a BUG which is in either an ankle holster, SOB holster, or a belly bag/fanny pack.

The holster I use depends upon the planned activities that I intend on doing for the day, which dictates my style of carry. How about you?

How Many

Generally two, most often 1- IWB, and 1- OWB. Still looking for a good OWB for my Taurus and suggestions?

P.S. it's a 617 2" sorry about that!

Typically 2, one IWB and one OWB.

For my non-concealed guns, such as my 625 Mountain Gun, I just have 1 OWB holster for field or range use.

OldBear: What type of Taurus?

Generally two, but sometimes more, depending on the gun.

I also try to buy holsters that work with more than one model of the same make, and sometimes, across makes. Very often, the same holster will work well with a couple of different makers.

2-3 holsters usually but there are exceptions.
I have an IWB and an OWB for my carry gun(s) but I also have a retention OWB (though I rarely use it) for open carry situations.

I also have decent paddle OWB for a couple of guns in case I need to slap on a sidearm in the house for some reason (middle of the night knock on the door or thump in the basement).

Right now I only have one, a Crossbreed Supertuck. I don't need any other IWB holsters but I would like to have an OWB and shoulder holster at some point. So, my basic answer for what I think would be ideal would be 3.

I tend to have 2-3 holsters per gun.

An IWB for routine CCW.

An OWB for open carry with a high ride and typically a forward-cant to it.

And an OWB straight/dropped for open carry in rougher environs. I find a lower/straight OWB holster is more comfortable and less hard on the gun when out in the field stomping through the bushes or shooting a rifle from field positions.

Some guns never get an IWB, and some guns never get an OWB straight/dropped holster. My 642, for example, will never get a straight/dropped holster, while my Redhawk will never get an IWB.

But most end up with 3.

For my carry gun - 2. A Kydex OWB paddle and a Kydex OWB beltslide. Same holster, different belt attachment. Both hold the gun in the same place.

For my daily carry Rossi 462, I have a Don Hume OWB, a Galco paddle and an Uncle Mikes ankle rig. For my duty weapon (XD40 service), I have a Blackhawk duty rig, a Galco pancake and a Fobus paddle. All my others only have one each.

I have two guns for which I have 1 holster each. Both are used in a woods environment (3" model 60 and Ruger Blackhawk .45 colt). Each of my defensive guns have 2-4 holsters apiece.

I have a belt holster, a paddle holster, and an IWB holster for each of my 7 primary carry handguns. I have a pocket holster and an ankle holster for my Kel-Tec P380 BUG. What I use depends on the situation and how I plan to dress.

I have a Kahr CW9 and 5 holsters for it:

1. IWB for wearing under a thin or slim T-shirt
2. OWB for wearing under a thicker or baggier t-shirt
3. OWB for wearing under a sweatshirt or with a jacket
4. Shoulder rig for wearing under a jacket
5. Chest band for when I'm sick of waist carry

I have two OWB holsters because one is more comfortable than the other. I also have a paddle holster but it prints badly so I never wear it.

Usually one per gun, (if any), a couple guns have two, but these are a combination of belt and shoulder holster.

When attending gun shows theres always guys with boxes of holsters. Have found some great holsters cheap. Even if I don't have a gun for some I get them for the future or trading. Can't see paying for the new ones at todays leather prices.

I've got a total of 5 holsters for my S&W 637. It was my first CCW gun and it took a bit to find a method and holster I was comfortable with. Live and learn but I finally settled on my OWB holster.

For the rest of my handguns, I've got between 1 and 2 holsters each, one IWB and one OWB.

screwdriver options

I have many for most (least? 5.5" and 7.5" Redhawks. Most? NAA Mini).

I have left- and right-hand versions; I have IWB and OWB and fanny packs and less conventional gear.

Yes, I have many.......because I prefer NEVER having any excuse not to wear at least one.
Ay?
