How many different EDCs have you gone through?

I'm getting the itch again.

I started with a CZ Rami... but then decided it was just too thick to carry comfortably. So I switched to a Kahr PM9, which is incredibly easy to carry, barely prints, has a great trigger, and is incredibly accurate for a tiny gun. Except... I now I miss the 10+1 capacity of the RAMI. So as the weather gets colder and I'm less concerned about pronting, I think I'm going to start carrying my mid-sized CZ PCR.

But as I think to the future, I still want something with more firepower but slim enough to carry in the summer. Now I'm thinking of the Kel-Tec P-11, as the shortest and thinnest 10+1 I've found on the market. I've never handled, let alone shot, the P-11, but I have tried the PF9... and was underwhelmed. It just felt flimsy in my hand, and recoiled much more sharply than the Kahr. Is the P-11 any better?

4 for me.

XD40 - I was new to concealed carry and didn't have the savvy to recognize the importance of a good holster and belt. Therefore, I never could be really comfortable with it all day.

PPS40 - Even though I still didn't really have the holster I needed, it didn't really matter that much due to the slimness and overall dimensions and weight.

M&P9 - Acquired when I decided to make the switch to 9mm. By then, I also had enough knowledge and experience to make it comfortable with a good holster and belt. Still carry it on occasion.

M&P Shield 9 - Got this one mostly because I could. I knew the slimness and overall size would be better than the full size double stack with certain clothing and, based on my experience with the PPS, I knew I'd like it. I carry it most days now but occasionally will return to the full size M&P.

I have loved all of these firearms. They are all comfortable in my hand, accurate, and totally dependable. I still own them all...plus a few more I've picked up along the way...again, because I could. :)

You should check out the PPS9. Not 10+1 but, with the extended mag, you can get 8+1 in an extremely soft shooting, accurate, and reliable platform.

I have owned a P-11, a PF-9 and a Kahr PM and CM9. Don't own any of these anymore.

Personally I have found Kel-tec to be lacking in quality control and build quality generally. The only Kel-tec pistols I have owned that even approached defense-gun reliability were the little 2d gen .32s, and even they were finicky. I don't even look at Kel-tec anymore, I think Ruger pretty much displaced them in the small/pocket pistol market. Much better company, higher quality and better service, worth the extra coin.

Not a fan of Kahr's reliability either , they have been way too tight and finicky for me. Glad you like yours.

The P-11 is not an improvement on the PF-9 in terms of recoil, and mine had a terrible heavy trigger to boot. Unless you can document that Kel-tec has decided to put the PF-9 trigger in the P-11, that's an issue.

Don't think you will like the P-11, can't think of a 10+1 pistol that size to recommend. If 8+1 is an improvement, take a look at the Smith & Wesson Shield, very slender, VERY accurate, low recoil, mine has been perfect.

I change carry guns way too often. Lets see....

G19
M&P 9
M&P 9c+P238
M&P 9c+TCP
M&P 9c+PM9
P320+PM9
VP9+PM9

Toying with the idea of switching from the PM9 to the PPS now.

Needless to say I have a lot of holsters.

In order of usage.

1. Smith 642
2. Smith SW99
3. Glock 29
4. HK P30

5/6. I currently carry a HK P2000 and when I cannot IWB I carry a Glock 43. I don't see this rotation changing anytime soon.

My current rotation:

Glock 19/Glock 23
Kahr PM9
Glock 42
Sig P238
Kahr CW380

The G19 is the main EDC while the Kahr PM9 if I have to go with deep concealment. The 3 x .380 acp pistols are all backup.

These were once my EDC: HK P7, HK P2000/HK P2000sk 9mm, M&P9c, HK USP9c, CZ P01.

Yg

While I have several that could be described as OAPDC(On any particular day carry), one is definitely an every day carry. Weather or not I carry something else. That is a pocket carried Ruger LCP.

Only 2 so far.

PT111 G2
CZ P-07

I go back and forth between the two, depending on my mood. The Taurus conceals better, but the CZ does fine in most circumstances, too. I do want to pick up a pocket pistol for when shorts weather comes around again. I'll probably go with a TCP .380.

As far as the Kel Tec, I can't comment, as I have never held or shot one, but I can recommend the PT111 G2. It fits your stated requirements well, and I love mine.

Ruger lcr 357
Bersa Thunder 380
Cz p07 9

Mostly carry the bersa but CZ when i feel like carrying bigger

Want to get a shield 9 and be done with it just haven't got around to it yet

Just last week I bought the pistol that will eventually be just my second EDC. Until I have a proper holster, mag carrier and night sights on it, I won't transition to it. It's a Walther PPQ M2.

Got my license to carry in the fall of 2008 and got my Glock 29 in October '08. It's the only EDC that I've ever had.

In the span of 40 years I've used five pistols.
Charter Arms Undercover
Astra Constable
Beretta 84
HK P2000sk
Seecamp LWS32

I don't change too often.

In over two decades of daily carry, I have only had two EDCs - a S&W 642, which I replaced with a Glock 26 in order to gain capacity.

Once in a while I pocket carry a Sig P238 that is usually my wife's EDC, so maybe that is two and a half.

Yeah, that's what I suspected (and was afraid of). I've heard Kel-Tec has improved their QA recently, but I still don't like the overall feel of their products. I actually do have a lot of respect for Kel-Tec for their innovation, but I really wish they'd invest in a 'premium' line of sturdier, more refined versions of their base product line. I'd probably pay $500 for a better-made P-11.

I suppose I'm back to waiting on Ruger to copy the P-11, then another two years for them to work out all the improvements to get it to be what I really want.

I bought my four steel-framed compact CZs as carry guns. I can't recall ever having carried my 83 chambered in .32 Auto, but it's admittedly primarily a plinker. My 82 resides in my glovebox. I have nice OWB UGB Regulator holsters for my 75 Compact and my 83, but I typically strap on the 83 chambered in .380 Auto. The 83 is just a bit more comfy, because it's a smidgeon less bulky and weighs a bit less.

I find myself going with the G26 more often than not. I carried a PPS for a bit, but I didn't shoot it as well and it was not much smaller in a holster than the Glock (with Vanguard 2). I had anticipated issues with the width of the Glock but I can comfortably carry it AIWB wearing a tshirt or tank top. When I want to go smaller I have a G42. I have contemplated buying a G19, but just picked up a P239 so that will have to wait.

My rotation

1. Shield .40
2. Smith 442
3. Ruger Lcp
4. Walther TPH

Occasionally a Glock 42 makes its way in, and I just picked up a Glock 27 that may end up replacing the Shield for winter carry.

I seem to shift between 2 EDC types.

Either I am feeling steel and SAO and its a 1911 commander length or BHP.

Or I'm feeling Plastic and its a Glock 19/23/30S, caliber changes by mood, holster (thank my wallet) doesn't have to. Most days I'm carrying a Glock.

EDIT: I forgot that I always keep a Ruger LCR in .38 Special handy for pocket carry duties (mostly when I'm wearing sweats/no belt).

I've had many others over the years, but I've settled into one of the two categories.

Let's see

9c > p229 > PT145 > G26 > LCP > 642 > Shield

I now carry the LCP, Shield or G2, the first four hit the dusty trail. I still have the 642 because it's my only revolver.
