How long is your typical range sessions?

I am fortunate to live in a rural area and have places to shoot without having to go to a gun range. Although I can usually shoot as long as I want, I find that I normally end up shooting for about 2 hours. What about the rest of you?

Usually 1 hour. Each Thursday I pick up my 87 year old step-dad and hit the local range. He tires easily so we shoot until he's ready to leave.

When I get to the range, I'll usually spend 2 hours, maybe 3 depending on how many guns I bring to shoot. Public Bureau of Land Management range, no range fee or other people waiting. Generally I have the range to myself. I am not able to shoot every week, so I might be putting more rounds down range per session than I would if I were able to get to the range more regularly.

I work hard to align my life, plans and schedule to support my love for shooting. To that end, I typically schedule a range day for a bit more than once a month-- let's say an average of 3 times in every 2 months.

My favorite place to shoot is about one hour each way from home...
Because of all of this, just about EVERY range trip for me is a "range DAY."

Minimum four hours. Typically around six hours, and I have done some 7-8 hour range days and loved every minute of them. I will usually have no less than 6 handguns in tow, not including my EDC which is on me.

I have gotten quite skilled in packing & hauling the right amount of gear. ;)

Yesterday was a range day. Because of weather and other evening plans, this trip was ~4 hours, six handgun across 3 centerfire calibers. 600rds of centerfire, 120 shots of rimfire. A couple "issues", one solved on-site and one of them presented clearly enough that I have solid plans to fix that one. Otherwise, it was a tremendous day albeit on the short side.

If indoor, then about an hour or so.

If at the outdoor range then anything from 1.5 to 3 hours. A lot of that is set up including traipsing all my stuff inside, walking down to the target trench etc. That is usually the case when I am doing a load comparison or OCW ladder.

I shoot at indoor ranges, so time and money usually limit me to about an hour. I try and preload as many magazines as possible so I spend most of my item shooting and not reloading.

Most times from 5:30 AM till about 11:00 or 12:00. Now lots of BS'ing in there to while barrels are cooling. Range is 23 Miles from my House so most times I go with at least 4 rifles.

I work at a place where I can take a long lunch once a week so I will eat a very quick lunch and head over to the indoor range and spend about an hour and 45 minutes there once a week. I usually make it to an outdoor range once every couple of months. Those are 2 to 3 hours.

I really don't spend much time at the range, up to an hour at the most. I get fatigued after a while and my accuracy suffers.

I think it's all because of reports going on around me and even though I take breaks they wear me out.

I wander up to my garage door behind my house 3 or 4 times per week and shoot 2-4 mags of ammo. into the hill behind the house. It may be 22, 9mm, 380 or 38 Special in my revolver. It only takes a few minutes before I come inside and clean/reload.

I find now that trips have a purpose and can be very short indeed 5 minutes. But those for general training normally will go over 2 hours and as long as 6 hours.

I meet my shootin' buddies every Sunday about 10am. We usually hit two different disciplines/ranges, and then break up the fun between 12 and 12:30.

Indoor: 1 hour. I thought about pre-paying for 2 but never asked. My lungs thank me.

Outdoor: Try to limit to 1.5 -2 hours but sometimes the time flies. Longest maybe 3-4 testing loads.

Why does outdoor take longer? Usually shooting with others / family on a farm or unknowns at the range. Waiting to set up/change targets, checking for hearing safe, chit chat and occasional instruction. When with family making sure they have fun may be more important than rounds down range.

That's also why I shoot less rifle. Takes longer to wait for folks to set up and walk 50 - 300 yards. I jog. And out of courtesy sometimes I wait to shoot because the old grumps only shoot 1 round every 15 minutes or so, wouldn't want to mess up their 10 second trigger pull :p

My shooting duration varies quite a bit. Some trips I bring a single firearm and just cap off a quick 20 rounds just to ring some steel. Other times I have a test agenda and it can take upwards of 3-4 hrs. Weather temps also dictate my time. Hot temps and humidity or cold temps <20f. = very short trips less than an hour.

Depends if I bring someone shooting which I often do, and how much ammo I have for that day. If I bring someone shooting, especially someone new to shooting, ill usually be there for a couple hours. If it's just myself, anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half usually.
