How long does Taurus take to fix things?

To be fair, I've only bugged the dealer who I sent it through so far and not Taurus directly. I tried to call Taurus this afternoon but I was late (I'm in Wyoming and they're in Florida, I think). I'll try calling during business hours tomorrow and find out what's going on.

By the way, I did punch my guns serial number into Taurus' Warranty Repair Status web page and nothing came up. I got the message to "Please contact Customer Service..." message and a phone #. Should that make me raise my eyebrows? Do they even have my gun?

The only one I've ever sent to them was back in 24 days.

They should be able to at least verify that they have your gun. Let us know what you find out.

22 days exactly to repair a revolver.
Three weeks seems to be the average lately, though I've seen times longer than six months.

The advice to have a gun shop ship it is sound. For some reason, Taurus seems to prioritize those. Also, keep a record of the serial number if you have to call Taurus for status.

Well...I called Taurus today and they have no record of ever receiving my gun. So I went to the dealer to find out what is going on, trying to keep calm on the drive over. The dealer didn't know what was up and he's going to call Taurus...don't know what help that'll do. Sounds like it was the problem with the shipping. I asked if he had a shipping receipt and he says yes, but it would take a while for him to find it. I asked how long and he said he's not sure, but he said he'd get back to me.

This guy has had my gun since the end of March. It seems like he should have been the one to check up with Taurus, not me.

How much time do I give him now before I get serious and get small claims court or a lawyer involved? I'm pretty ****** off at this point. I should have gotten on his case more and sooner, but in my defense I was out of state for work for three months this summer, so I couldn't have picked up the gun if it were ready anyway. I did call and ask about it end of July though, so he should have had the issue on his mind.

I guess this thread is no longer about Taurus...I shouldn't have been so quick to accuse them. It's now about a seemingly incompetent dealer.

Model 85 revolver

Received by Taurus, 3/5.
Shipped by Taurus, 4/13.

Same year (in case there is a smart aleck remark lurking out there).

100% reliable since it returned.

Regards,
Tom

Taurus has a web page where you can track your gun by serial number. My recollection was mine went from "We have it" to "We shipped it back" with a very brief stay on "We are working on it". At least it made it clear that they had it.

Further posts bashing Taurus are off-topic

Thanks for the input everyone, but I'm not really interested in Taurus bashing at this point. I admit I was guilty of it myself when I started this thread. If you read my last two posts though, it's not about Taurus anymore. It's now about a lost gun that the dealer is responsible for. Mods, maybe this thread should be closed.

i got a letter in the mail today (thursday) from taurus saying that thay had the gun. got the gun back last(tuesday) haha thats two days after it was fixed and sent back

What!?! pro tc you have my gun!?! Give it back!! Just kidding. I wish. Yep...Taurus isn't the one at fault in my case.

Yep...Taurus isn't the one at fault in my case.

Not directly, but other companies you can have the gun picked up at your home in 2-3 days free of charge. Taurus you need to ship it to them on your dime or the dealer's dime in your case.

nope they paid priority overnight both ways.

My Ruger and Smith was shipped 2nd day. Just the Fed-EX shipping label took 2-3 days to get for the Smith, and the Ruger took 2 days for UPS pick-up. Couln't have been more simple, and I never even had to put my pant's on.:D

Finally got my tracker back from the shop I sent it through

Finally got my Tracker back from the dealer I sent it from.

When I called Taurus last week and they had no record of having my gun in for repair, I went to the dealer that I shipped it from and he was having a hard time locating where it was. Shipping problems? Finally got a call from him yesterday and I went there this morning and picked up the gun that I pestered him about in person a week ago. I asked where the gun was for five months but he just kinda shrugged off my question by saying "I forget...you brought it in for a firing pin..." or close to that. Which I did bring it in for...I just expected him to know exactly where my gun was during the whole shipping and repair process. Did he just forget about me as a customer? What the hell? Seems like I had to bother him way too much for me to do business with him anymore.
