How long does it take you to service your presses?

I am not afraid to drink while cleaning.
I believe vacuuming while drinking would be more dangerous than partaking so while cleaning a reloading press.

What's going to result, a pinched finger!?

Besides... If no one ever mixed alcohol and gun powder, we wouldn't have the 'proofing' system that exists today.

Hornady One Shot is working well for me. But, I just disassembled and cleaned my LCTP. Huge PITA separating the linkage.

Servicing? What are you guys talking about? My Rockchucker is a good 25 years old...maybe closer to 30 and I've never even oiled it. I think I blew some dust off the top once. I've never cleaned anything of my equipment and honestly cant see a need. Dies I'll sometime clean...maybe once a year. Nothing else needs it.

Re MJFlores, post #29
Likewise, my two Dillon 550s have not seen any servicing in 25 or more years. Just wipe the dust off if it accumulates. Same goes for my two hefty model 3 Herter's single stage presses.

Well I knew we were missing out on something. But it just occurred to me that my 550s are really dirty and need some heavy duty servicing so out in the garage I go.

Occasionally lube the ram when it needs it (maybe 5 minutes max?). Use 3&1 household oil. Always cleanup around the ram after a loading session. Quick wipe with a paper towel. Done.
