Whats everybody think ?

It's a G-19 with the frame trimmed down to accept G-26 mags.

Um... why?

This strikes me as being like the new .454 Casull Lite. It's a freakin' .45 Colt with a different name.

A G19 that takes G26 mags? Why cut down a perfectly good pistol to take mags from another perfectly good pistol?

I'm afraid I'm with Coinneach on this one. Why wouldn't you just get a G-26?

anyways, looks like they did a good job of shortening it if it maintains G-19 barrel length.

If you like, it fits your hand well, and achieves what you intended then it's great. I wouldn't do it. Then again I'm also a SIG Sauer fanatic, maybe a Glock thing?

I think the intention is like the Commander slide on an Officer's frame....reduce the part hardest to hide to as small as practical, with the slide shorter than full size but not snubby for best combination of pointability\velocity. Right? Maybe not everyone's idea of cool, but to each his own.

For the dumbfounded, a Glock 26 does not have the accessory rail.

The Glock 19 has a 4" barrel, the G26 is only 3.5"

The 10 round single stack magazines for the Glock 19 are horribly designed. The double stack G26 magazines aren't.

Thats "Why"...

I'll have to give this two thumbs down. I'll give you the plus of the accessory rail. I put a G19 barrel in my G26 gun to get the barrel length. I have never had any problem with G19 or G26 mags in my G26 gun. I have never heard of anyone having problems with them either. I guess botom line is ...Different strokes for different folks. As long as you like, Shoot it and enjoy it.

Rangie - two tips: 1) more light; 2) only one pic is sufficient, they are both essentially the same and have already made this thread over 100K.

Do you actually own this gun or are you just polling for opinions? If it's cut down to aid CCW, then what do you need an accesory-rail for? I like the extra barrel length though... no strikes there.

I guess I asked for it! :o

DVC - thanks for a little back up.

As for why--It seemed like G-26 mags(made to fit 10 rounds) make more sense than G-19 mags(made to fit 15 rounds but Democrat engineired to fit 10)

With the Scherer extention the grip feels about the same and without it the gun is much easier to conceal.

It still takes G-19/17 Reg-Caps if I feel like spending the $$$(ouch!!).

Why not just get a G-26? Longer barrel/sight radius and accesory rail.

I did the work myself. I don't have too many other tools that haven't made a visit to the Dremel,Burr King or buffer. So why not?

Sorry about the size I thought it would be good to show with/without the grip extention. But your right one picture would have been fine.

Yes it needs a lighter background maby I'll use some Hi-Cap savings to go towards a digital camera instead of using my chepo scanner. :D

Thanks All !

My first response was also, WHY? But after looking at it and seeing your reasons, I think it's kind of neat!
To each his own, though.
Good Luck W/ It,

I think we may have just found out the main argument against plastic guns. I like em but now I can envision Mattel coming out with Big Daddy Roth "Monster Guns" with plastic fangs, or fins, or something.

What hath God wrought?

I think it is a neat idea. This wouldn't be a bad CCW piece. Too bad we don't live close, I'd ask to try it on at the range. If Glock offered this option from the factory I'm sure they'd sell quite a few. Not that I'm asking for you to do this to my G19 mind you ;). I just went ahead and bought a G26.

Let's not forget that hicaps are drying up. Glock will soon have to come out with something different if it wants to keep the civilian market. Why get a G17 or G19 when it will only hold 10 rounds?

The new Kahr P7 has this mod done by someone to make it easier to carry. After seeing a P7, I could see getting it done if I had unlimited funds to play with :)...

Hey Rangie, keep thinking outside the box! The perfect CCW piece hasn't been offered yet.

Actually most people that I know with Glocks 19 and 17 don't own prebans. Ten rounds in a Glock 19 makes a lot of sense if a smaller piece doesn't fit your hand. Likewise the SIG Sauer P228 sells like hot cakes and most buyers don't invest in prebans.

Rangie,

I like it. Saw an article in a recent Combat Handguns about a Robar G21 conversion to accept G30 mags. I see a great deal of practicality in this conversion. I'm going to have ARS do this to a 2nd gen G21 frame for me as funds allow.

Nice job. I like it. One of the reasons I haven't bought a G26 or G30 is because of missing accessory rail.

After being bitten by the Glock bug last month, I decided that I liked the G26, and the G19. So I got both!!! I think that that would have been a better solution. :) :)
