How do you think the gun laws are in México?

Basically the larger calibers allowed for civilians are:
Pistol = 9mm Makarov, .357 sig and 7.62x25mm Tokarev
Revolver = .38 Special
Rifles and carbines = There is no limit
Shotguns= 12 Gauge

your preaching to the choir, kind of like California's proposal for banning civilian body armour possession/purchase, the only instance of it being an issue(of my knowledge) is the big televised bank robbery, but from the looks of their automatic rifles, I don't think they would care to comply with the "safe and responsible"(BAN) body armor law

Yes, It's the true. The gun law are for all the states.

To purchase a firearm you need:

Military service
Letter of work
ID
No criminal record
Proof of address
Birth certificate
CURP
Be a member of a shooting club(if are shotgun or rifle)

It's all

For some unsupported reason I thought all private gun ownership was banned in Mexico.
Although I did drive down the driveway of a mansion in Cozamel and was greeted by two men with AR15s. The house was so big I thought it was a hotel. The men were very nice and didn't shoot us while we turned around in the driveway.

So, if you did not serve in the Armed Forces, you can't own a gun? Disqualifies a whole lot of people, does it not? Those who were unfit for military service (physically handicapped) can't have a gun? How about women? It would seem to me that smallest and weakest would have the most need of a firearm, especially in a country where the crime rate is so high ......

....and what is the "CURP"?

The Military service can do it from 16 years of age, you enlist in the army or navy for three months and after that you get your military service card and you are reservist for the army or navy.

You need the military service for:
Obtain Visa
Obtain passport
Get job in the army, navy, air force and police
Among other things
