I've also stored guns in holsters for years and years. Actually, the ones I use the most have been in holsters for as long as I've owned them for the most part. I do live in an extremely dry climate, but haven't had much of a problem with rust in a holster, including being out in the rain and snow. I also think the warnings about leather are a bit over done, tho you guys that live in real humid climates may have more problems with them.

I've found that the dirt and dust that gets in the leather is hard on blueing, and carrying regularly wears the blue off. Oh well. They still work just fine.

This one has been in a holster the majority of it's life (since '84), and been a daily carry off and on over many years.

My area has very little humidity, so no real rust issues. Handgun in a keypad safe, .22lr rifle in hard rifle case (w/ 2nd shotgun barrel), and 12ga shotgun in the corner of the closet ("cruiser ready")

I have one handgun. It is stored in a holster, on me whenever I leave home unless I'm going somewhere where carry is legally prohibited. If I need to take it somewhere where I can't carry it loaded, it's in its padded case, locked up.

I doubt I'll ever have a collection, but if my husband does, he'll doubtless figure out the best ways to store guns he isn't carrying most of the time. Can't see the point in storing in a rag, though -- why was that on the poll? (I assume that there is some reason.)

Rag in this case meant a piece of cloth. I have known folks that, after cleaning their guns, will wrap them in a piece of oiled cloth.

My grandad used to wipe all his guns down with oil and then wrap the rags around the handguns. He kept them stored in the basement because gramma would not allow them in her house.

Where are the options for "none of the above" or "open air"?

My pistols are stored uncased, on a shelf in the safe.

Storing them in a case, holster, or bag is a great way to hold moisture against the finish (and force other substances to come in contact with the firearm).

Had forgotten about Rustprufe, Sgt127. Good stuff indeed. Good thing I bought a refill bottle several years back. Haven't seen it on a shelf in years. Great for guns that stay in a safe for months or years at a time.

I figured that would fall under the "No Holster" choice.

Franken, you have been around here long enough to know there just is not enough poll questions to satisfy everyone's choice. I think you are just trying to bust my chops :D. LoL

This is pretty much what I have chosen as a storage method. Ran out of room in the safe so I have begun stacking them on top of each other until I can afford to get another one.
