How do you get sticky stuff off?

But naphtha is still cheaper by the quart or gallon -- and it's basically a somewhat more refined version of mineral spirits, which is even cheaper.

Goo Gone works well. I have used it on lots of stuff that had adhesive from packing tape, and duct tape from years prior. It is citrus based. I would test it on a hidden area of the gun before going after the glue residue.

I haven't run across any sticky mess yet that couldn't come off with Ballestol, Kroil, or Rain-X window treatment stuff. Rain-X actually does wonders on getting road tar off of your quarter panels.

I'd try WD40 first. Seen it work on sticky stuff often. An aside; if you're out in a field working on tractor hydraulics it works amazingly well as an emergency hand cleaner, too. (I'm easily amazed though.):D

Seal1 is the best! Safe for all wood, steel and poly. Knives, ax, gun ect. Even a great black powder solvent. Its bio safe and green too.
