How do you carry your J frame?

I'm searching for the best way to carry my S&W 640 .357. I wouldn't be carrying it all the time, mostly when I go for a walk or to the store. I am looking for a holster that would be comfortable and conceal well. For this application I would be wearing an untucked shirt or jacket so pocket carry isn't needed. What types of holsters do you recommend and which brands? I've been searching the web and have become fairly well confused with all the variety out there. Thanks, Mike

I carry my .38 Special Model 640 in my right front pants pocket. Use a Kramer pocket holster.

In colder weather it goes into the right jacket pocket.

Some of my LEO friends carry it IWB at the appendix....just to the right of pants belt bucklet.

A cousin in Special Forces utilizes bicep carry.

Alessi APX - goes between your belt buckle and hip, appendix forward, or "belly" position. The site I had a pic parked on went belly-up, but it only adds two thicknesses of Lous' thin leather to the gun, and is very fast when broken in. It holds on the waistband with one Talon clip.

sounds like all you need is a 7 dollar uncle mikes' inside the waistband clip holster...I wear mine between the belt and pants for added comfort.....nothing is thinner or lighter and it works fine for what you are describing....

Galco Cover Six Cross Draw for my M60LS.
Outstanding and comfortable to the max. Shirt or sweater can easily cover it and the gun hugs your body...very little likelihood of printing.

MikeJ,when I owned a 640 I carried it in a pancake holster as that's My favorite type/method.I found it too heavy for Me in a pocket.I do carry a 642 on My pocket but My 649 which is about as heavy as the 640 is carried in either a pancake or fanny pack.As always what is best for Me might not be what is best for You.tom.

For what your looking for I would also say a Barami Hip Grip is the way to go.

No hassel of putting on a holster for just a shot carry trip.
The only other thing I would add is a Tyler T-grip.

I mostly carry a J-frame....

(Or a Glock 27)
I carry my J-frame pistols in a "Rafter Gunleather" shark skin gunbelt and shark skin
holster set up. The holster only has a 15 degree "cant". It is FAR better than I thought it would be. Hides VERY well.

(I love shark, yes I do!)
