No...I couldn't care less what he carries, but it disturbs me that he is trying to influence others to do the same. This thread is about accessories and how we carry them. Hemicuda is preaching that a spare mag is not a necessary accessory and I vehemently disagree. But I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. So I will answer the question at hand.
My favorite concealing garmet is a Banana Republic (or equivalent) photo journalist vest. I generally carry my 5" Kimber .45 in a strong side belt holster (currently a Dillon LTD) and a single mag and a leatherman in pouches on my belt on my weak side. I use the cordura pouch that came with the leatherman and a Blade Tech single mag pouch for the 1911 mag. I usually carry a .38 snub on my inside left ankle in an Alessi ankle holster). I carry a speedloader for this gun in each lower front pocket of the vest. This gives me quick access to the reloads but also weights the vest down to keep the wind from blowing it open. It also adds a little weight to create a pendulum when I sweep the vest out of the way to draw my 1911. The vest has tons of pockets to carry a flashlight (in my case a Surefire 6P or 6Z) and more 1911 mags, an impact weapon, OC spray, cellphone, etc. as the situation dictates.
When the situation won't allow my vest, I wear a short or long sleeve button up shirt untucked and unbuttoned over the .45. If even more formal yet, I wear a sportcoat over the .45.
When it is hot as hell, I wear shorts and a t-shirt and carry just my .38 snub in a fanny pack (a Galco Escort) with 3 or 4 speedloaders in the accessory pocket of the pack.
If I wear long slacks and a tucked in shirt with no covering garmet, I carry the .38 snub on the ankle and Bianchi speed strips in my pants pocket.
I always carry a small pocket knife in my pants pocket for routine small cutting chores. I carry a Cold Steel Voyager Tanto 4" clipped inside my strong side front pants pocket for more serious work just in case.
I think the secret to carrying concealed with comfort and confidence is to have a variety of guns, a variety of holsters, and a variety in your wardrobe to allow you to carry easily regardless of the situation.
In closing, I would like to apologize for getting off track with Hemicuda and would like to politely encourage Hemicuda and all of you on TFL to always carry at least one reload for your gun. Better to have and not need than need and not have...
