How did I do for $100???

Shooter John...

Since the serial number is in a safe range, I would be comfortable shooting it. One caution though--slug that barrel FIRST. It is not out of the question for someone to have bored out and relined the barrel with another caliber. The tag DID say, 7mm Mauser, did it not?

At any rate, if you want a good original pattern stock for your rifle, look no further...

www.odcmp.com

has both the C (pistol grip) and S (scant) stocks, in good American Black Walnut, unfinished but fully inletted and ready to go. Nice looking stocks too, I might add.

PowderMan... Thanks for the link! Unfortunately they don't seem to have any in stock, and they aren't taking orders, but I'd love to put a proper stock back on this rifle.

Kraigwy... I've looked into some of the rules of the Vintage Sniper matches but I can't really make heads or tails. Will the mounts that are on my gun be compliant, or would I have to go with the "as issued" 1903A4 style mounts?

I've got a type C (without upper handguard) and an NRA 22 sporter (with grooved forend) that I can part with. PM me if you're interested.

Can't comment on the rifle but for the scope go to ebay. Lot's of steel K2.5s, K3s and K4 for less than $100. I bought a mint K3 for $90 about a year ago.

Good deal there as its a good 250 buck 30-06 deer gun. And no way in hell they could have bored that out to 7mm. I would not bother putting a original stock in it as its totaly wrecked as having any value due to the receiver being screwed up and yes it is not legal in sniper class shoots.

Thanks Radom... If it is a no go for the sniper matches, then I'll probably just put a nice walnut sporter on it. I do want to keep an era correct scope though, and I have indeed found several on eBay that should suit my needs just fine.
