How clean do YOU get your barrel?

Any solvent on that bore snake?

I use Brass/bronze brushes on my pistols and my Shotty and a bore snake for my AR-15. I squirt a little CLP down the barrel and a little on the cleaning brush/snake and scrub. Jam a piece of rag down the barrel and scrub some more. Poof, clean barrel. I also will not shoot lead bullets through my guns, call me picky or whatever but I wont do it. FMJ is all I shoot.

Gun cleaning used to be easier when I smoked. I could swab some Birchwood Casey in then go out for a cigarette waiting for it to do its magic.

Have you ever tried Rem Clean, which is a light abrasive, on a bronze brush?

Also, if you have a broken aluminum cleaning rod you can bend it just a little bit then file the end so it fits well in a groove, then use it to scrape out the lead. Also a bronze brazing rod works the same way. Much less risk of scratching than the dental picks, although I've got to admit picks work well around the forcing cones when you've been shooting 44 special in a 44 mag. :)

P.S. don't leave lead solvents in overnight as they can cause pitting.

I shot exclusively jacketed ammo through my Glock but when I sent it to the factory after it KB! on me, they said that the kb! resulted from lead build up & to not shoot lead ammo anymore. Ok, whatever....
Factory fixed the gun tho...all's good :D
As for my barrels, I clean em until I can push a patch through w/o getting even remotely dirty.

"I drag a Boresnake through it and call it a day"

Boresnake? = Me Too!:D
Oh Yea, I use G-96 on the scrubber part of the snake.
Have Pistol snakes in .22, .32, .38, .44 and .45.;)

Works fer Me!:D

I start with Simple Green (Auto barrels get soaked for awhile), revolvers get SG used like solvent, and on the bronze brushes, followed by Hoppees, followed by CLP. Simple green seriously cut down the amount of Hoppees I use, its great stuff, cuts lead, copper, and grease or oil. Dont stop till they come out white...

Using JB Borecleaner, and I get the barrels shiny clean. I dont shoot lead though, but still get the copper deposits in the barrel. I have tried several different solutions, and JB was the best solution to get it cleaned out.

I have found that using a copper pot and pan scrubbing pad does the trick in about 10 strokes. Just cut a piece wide enough to wrap around a bronze brush and long enough to go around it a couple of times, use whatever solvent you prefer and voila all of the lead is gone. Hope this helps.
