Link to the You tube video. This thing looks like it takes your AR to fully automatic.. Seems like it should be illegal.

From Buds Gun Shop..
Slide Fire Solutions' ground breaking "Slide Stock" technology and ergonomic design provide the ability to Slide Fire safely, offering a new element of entertainment for recreational shooters everywhere!

Applying principles that have been used for over 40 years to bump fire, the SSAR-15's radical design enables the shooter to fire and AR-15 as quickly as desired without compromising their own safety or the safety of others around them. Unlike traditional bump firing. The SSAR-15 allows the shooter to properly hold their firearm and maintain complete control at all times. In addition, as a result of the forward movement required to discharge each round, the shooter naturally corrects their point-of-aim for each shot and prevents recoil from pushing the firearm's muzzle upward in an unsafe direction.

In principal the SSAR-15 functions similar to the Gatlin system. When operating a Gatlin system the shooter operates a crank in a circular motion to activate the firing mechanism. Every 1/5 rotation of the crank will discharge a round. The shooter will then continue forward another 1/5 of a rotation to fire the next round, and so on. With the SSAR-15 the shooter activates the firing mechanism by moving the upper assembly forward to discharge a round. To discharge the next round the operator must again move the upper assembly forward. As with the Gatlin system, an AR-15 equipped with the SSAR-15 will never fire automatically.

It comes with a copy of the letter that the ATF issued ruling that it doesn't create an automatic weapon. Good fun but you're going to RIP THROUGH some ammo!

Sure looks like it circumvents the automatic weapon law

Yup, real question is how many of these end-around devices/features meant to circumvent the law ATF will tolerate before said devices are banned as well?

Its legal by the ATF's own definitons. Although a good rubber band costs a lot less.

I wonder what the production cost of making the thing is?

There are a few threads discussing this, but what really makes it legal is that it takes human intervention to make it fire more than one shot IE your finger has to be present for the trigger to slide against it, therefor it will not turn your AR into a "machine gun" the current ATF law would have to be rewritten to make this illegal.

Doesn't circumvent any current law. The rifle is not automatic.

Although having been next to one while it was fired, you'd guess it wasn't semi. I can see the novelty wearing off really quickly

KOOL factor

Have owned and fired one since June....there is no wear-off to it..2minutes or less to swap out parts, I've replied in other threads..I've fired full auto's AR's MP5s M16,14 on my Colt LE6940 its no contest to what is affordable..at the FUN GUN SHOOT in SD this June it was,is and still remains the best bang for the low buck..Full auto doesnt operate any better..and my son and I can put the rounds on target out past 100yds all day long..30rd,20rd mags all day long..what a FN hoot:cool:

Legal definition of an automatic firearm is any firearm that fires multiple shots per trigger pull. This slide fire device simply makes your finger hit the trigger faster. It still fires just one shot per trigger pull.

While I can't say the novelty ever wore off over 22 years in the Reserves, I can say that having the Army pay me to shoot their ammo was the cheapest way to do it.

It was really easy to hit standing targets in the open out to 500m. It's NOT easy to hit popup targets at 300m simulating a three second rush. The individual soldier can't really use full auto to an effective degree until things get much closer or more exposed. That's the job of the crew served MG and the final line of fire.

We've developed field tactics to respond to the changes in field tactics brought about due to the introduction of full auto. Nobody just walks into machine gun fire much anymore, much less insurgents working ambushes or placing IED's.

That's why it's kind of silly to see shooters emulating the Great Days of Full Auto Battle from DDay thru Korea. That was then, this is now. If it helps to justify blowing away $100 in ammo in just a few minutes, it's your wallet.

Only those with lots of disposable income get to exercise their rights anyway.

I have some people ask me why I own a lot of firearms....

Its America and I can......

Why do you own one of those bump stocks and waste ammo.

Its America and you can....

How can this be legal..

Not to be a sourpuss but not that long ago it was legal before the goverment stuck there nose in and infringing on our Right To Bear and Own all types of firearms, Auto,semi-auto, with no restriction on mag count. Now fast forward to present we thing have been squeezed and molded to what they want us to be.... and believe that we shouldn't own or want to own something that was taken from us and open now to a limited number with cost so high that Joe Dirt can not afford a full auto without a consent to search ones past FULLY.

I am just not understanding why the title of this thread make it out to be more than it should be I'm just venting.....

A semi auto weapon is deigned to fire semi auto. If you modify the gun in any way to fire more then one round at a time you are streaching the way the weapon is designed by the manufacture. Your wallet is your wallet,if you want to blow away 100$s at a time be my guest. A lefty might not be ableto use this device as effectively. It wont be long beofre the god ATFE looks at this and banishes it away.

By your own reasoning, putting a scope on a rifle with iron sights is "stretching the way the weapon was designed". It won't be long, before the ATF looks at all these "sniper rifles" and banishes them away....

Before screaming about how 'Illegal' something should be, you guys really should find out what the actual laws are. ...And how screaming for more restrictive laws is going to impact gun owners, as a whole.

And... Why should this be illegal?
Remind me, again: When was the last time a slide-fire equipped weapon was used to commit a crime?
How 'bout a legally possessed machine gun?
Grenade launcher?
Suppressed pistol?

For those who shoot IDPA, GSSF, IPSC...they already fire as quickly as human frailties allow them to be while still being accurate.
Ever watch J. Miculek at work?? He's the fastest...select-fire fingers.
The thing that makes him different, he can aim as fast as he fires. His consistancy is legendary.

And he learned "Fast & Fancy Shooting" by Ed McGivern & applied it. Now Miculek holds the world record for Revolvers! :)

Anyone can learn to shoot fast...shooting fast & precisely, that's a critter of a different stripe entirely!!
It takes trigger time, consistant body control, and consistant habits of movement while aiming.
Meaning unless you are in good physical shape, you ain't gonna be as fast as the speedy fellas.
It all boils down to "How much and How Hard are you willing to train your mind & body?"
