How about a good .22 for plinking?

Right on Slabsides! My old blued 5&1/2 inch SuperSingleSix is still fun to shoot. Years ago I clipped a coil or two off the main spring, really made it slick to cock & fire. And it is quite the little shooter with the 22WMR cylinder in place. :)

Just one of the Good Guys

All of those 22s listed above are good guns.
However, different strokes for different folks. What you like does not necessary mean
that others like. So do yourself a favor, try to borrow from friends or rent those guns, try them out for yourself and select the gun you feel good about it. That is the way I did.

If you already own a 1911 model, take a look at a Ceiner Platinum series .22 slide that turns your .45 into a .22 pistol. Don't forget to pick up an extra slide when you buy, having only one slide is a pain.

My vote, for what it's wourth, would be for a Ruger 22/45. I picked up a stainless one new a few months back for somewhere aound $300.

Now here we have the mining man, in either hand a gun.
He is not afraid of anyting, and he's never know a run,
He dearly loves his whiskey, and he dearly loves his beer.
He's a shooting, fighting, dynamiting, mining engineer.

I own a Smith 22A that I originally paid $230 for and slapped a Propoint3 on it. Even my 12 year old son can consistently coax 1" groupings @ 25 yards from this setup. I believe that there are other setups that deliver comparable value but I am skeptical that there is another that demonstrates significantly more value in comparison to the Smith 22A......just another plinker's opinion......Dan in GA

Hard to believe but I only own two 22 LR handguns. Why? They don't belch and roar enough for me and I have had shell casings stick in the chambers on revolvers. The guilty parties were two S&W Kit Guns and a Dan Wesson. With this said I really like the Ruger MKII Government and I have a brand new nickle plated four inch S&W Model 34. Regards, Richard.

I agree with the 22a S&W. I also have a red dot on mine. Quite accurate, but it is amazing how much you see the dot wiggle when you aim!
