Hot Dog / Bun Dilemna

I always do everything I can to come home with extra shells, personally. By three boxes of shells, shoot two rounds, have an extra box at home. But, that's just me.

well since it is 2010 please feel free to express yourself as gay as you want. i was a member of a club for like ehhhh 2 years. never renewed it because the atmosphere was just weird. it's hard to train at ranges especially with a lot of restrictions like no walk and shoot, wear a giant orange vest type of stuff. no i don't live out in the boondocks. me and my friends just weren't lazy asses and we built our own range that about 30 min away. plus the price you pay is not worth the benefit. it's good for people who are just learning to shoot i guess, but you're better off with you and some co workers by yourself in my opinion

Yep, that would be a safety issue.

From the rest of your diatribe, it would appear your expectations of the shotgun club didn't quite seem like something you envisioned from one of your video games.

I'm glad you and your friends have your own secluded spot, please do the rest of us a favor and stay on it.

its funny how people are

at my range, they are practically nazis. i accidentally went to the bench during a cease fire once or twice, and i got my ass chewed out for it. and i was like, jeez! whats the big deal?!?!?! lighten up!

but one day i was down range putting up my targets during a cease fire, and some jackhole was at the bench loading rounds and putting the magazine in his gun, and i was like ***?!?!?!

funny how that works.

and i was like, i want to rapid fire! 1 second rule sucks! i'm not gonna hurt anyone

and one day the guy in the next lane over is rapid firing his pistol, and he has no muzzle control at all, and i'm like, christ

the rules apply evenly for everyone for everyones safety.

if you want to go to your own private piece of land, drive around in a truck, riding in the bed shooting over the cab at random **** in a pot hole lined field, thats your business. but the consequences are all your own

wow, ok i'm not some red neck driving around spotlighting deer. seriously i'm a responsible shooter. how is walking and shooting a safety violation? you obviously have no experience whatsoever and you're going to sit there and tell me i'm some crazy gun wielding redneck. i didn't really think you'd get your panties in a twist because i said gun clubs are gay. don't worry man you're not gay if you join a club. i honestly just didn't like it.

Look, maybe we're coming at this from 2 different perspectives ...

Most shotgun clubs exist to shoot Skeet, Trap, Sporting Clays and 5 Stand. There are very specific rules / and very specific safety rules that apply to all shooters because often there is someone standing within 6 or 8 feet of the shooter ...... So you can't walk around with any shells in a magazine / let alone any shells in a chamber. You can't load / or fire a weapon unless you are on the specific shooting station...

If you're talking about Tactical training / you need to find a club that has a range that is compatible with "tactical training"... I have no use for "Tactical shotguns" personally - but I do carry a concealed weapon and enjoy tactical training with my 1911's, etc / but there is a time and place for that to happen ( not on general use range time ) .... Learning how to move, shoot, reload etc is a skill .... but it is very dangerous to do / unless there is a specific range safety officer / range master securing the range from any other activity. That kind of training is not welcome - at any Trap, Skeet or Sporting Clays clubs ... You have to find a range / or a training course where that kind of range discipline is allowed and properly supervised.

Just because you own a shotgun / doesn't mean you ought to be able to do whatever you want on the range whenever you want - not even as a member ! Discuss a tactical course with your local club management / see what they can do to orchestrate something for you / set up some classes or whatever.....

I could care less if you're gay or not / doesn't matter to me .....
But that is what was offensive in your remarks .... same its "lame", " too restrictive" ...or something else ....but an organized gun club is "not gay"... It show you lack the intellect to clearly state your case .....

Never said anything about the color of your neck, your inability to shoot deer during the daytime hours; however your juvenile, immature BS rantings are uncalled for. As for experience, please tell us all about yours. Mine is limited, only about 30 years....sorry if that doesn't meet your inexperienced criteria.

Perhaps you should try acting like an adult and not some teeny gamer wannabe.

i'll revise

i don't feel a need for gun clubs for most shooters. i respect your years of experience but there's 2 different paths when it comes to shooting. clubs just don't work for me. sorry

I appreciate your revision ....

I've been shooting clay targets for about 40 yrs ... and shooting handguns for 50 yrs ..../ killed my first Elk when I was 10 yrs old ....almost 50 yrs ago now ....

I train with my handguns - usually twice a week / 4 - 8 boxes of ammo a week - moving, multiple targets, rapid fire, reloading, drawing from holsters, etc ...and its fun ( or I wouldn't do it )... But the ranges I do that at ... allow it under very specific situations and controls ...and you have to be a member, certified to draw from a holster, etc ... I appreciate having those ranges nearby - that offer me the opportunity to train and have some fun there.

I'm not into tactical shotguns / don't own any - don't want any ... even though I have 25 shotguns ... they're for hunting birds and shooting clays .. The shortest barrel I have on any shotgun is 28" / and most of my O/U's are 30" or 32" barrels ... I trained with tactical shotguns when I was in the service ...but that was more than a few years ago ... I appreciate having 5 or 6 Trap, Skeet, 5 Stand and Sporting Clays ranges (within a 75 mile radius )... and I'm a member at most of them ...because I want them to succeed / and I get a break on my cost of targets - buy my reloading components there, etc ...

We all come at this hobby from different perspectives. ( I was born and raised in Western Montana ( that's red-neck ) .... not Georgia )......

Take care / come back and share your thoughts ....

and i just realized that my location says georgia. you are completely justified in calling me a redneck

Never called you a redneck. Georgia doesn't own that term; spent a few years in Atlanta going to college myself.

If you disagree with something someone has said, then debate away, disagree, etc. - no issues there at all

going through the thread, you were the first person to use that phrase

you may have derived that from my comment

if you want to go to your own private piece of land, drive around in a truck, riding in the bed shooting over the cab at random **** in a pot hole lined field, thats your business. but the consequences are all your own

but that doesnt imply redneck. or does it?

I'm proud of my "red-neck" heritage from Montana .... / ... even if I did marry a progressive Liberal from Seattle ......

I can watch ESPN, MSNBC and Fox at the same time ......and yell at all three of them ....

Well, I didn't realize that I was gay. Guess I'll go stock up on those rainbow bumper-stickers. I think I'm more of a lesbian in a man's body though....;)

As far as the shooting clubs, I joined mine because I live in the city, the closest public ranges are an hour drive one way, and I don't know anyone who has land to shoot on anymore.

I agree that shooting on the range isn't like the shooting of my youth, where we would shoot, well, whatever we wanted. Watermelons, appliances, old cars, etc. Lot's of fun, lot's of things happened that we all agree we were lucky to not be hurt doing.

I shoot differently now, and I enjoy the fact that we have rules and safety regulations. Keeps me from having any new holes in my body. The rules are sometimes a PITA, but they are there for a reason and keep us all safe.
