Hornady LNL or Dillon XL 650

Drainsmith are you ok? Good God man you should know that when a woman says "I don't care" that's code for you better damn well do what she wants!!!!!
Course it has only taken me 35 years with her to get it, though I still slip up.

The 21st of this month the old bat and I will be married 41 years. I will never learn. That is why I take her out to dinner at least one a week, and have built a luxury dog house. Some times I get into trouble just to go to my dog house.:D

the basement is my man cave where I go when my wife gets upset with me. I take her out for dinner once a week and sometimes for lunch since we are both retired. I still end up in the man cave once in a while.
BTW I sold a complete set of encyclopedia's since my wife knows everything I had no need for them, lol

Midway has a coupon for 20% off (789541365). Usually not a fan of them but I was searching for a good price for a LnL earlier

I don't have a LnL. But everything I read leads me to believe you will not regret purchasing either a LnL or the 650. Be prepared though, to get the case feeder for the 650. It shouldn't be sold without it.

I have, a Single stage lee, a Lee classic turret, a Dillon SDB, and a Dillon 650xl.

Toss a coin, you will be happy whichever way you go.

It was mentioned above - that if you run into a problem on the 650...you have to cycle that round thru the press to remove it ( no, that is not accurate !! ) ..

....on the 650, you can easily remove a case from any of the 5 stations, by pulling a small case indexing pin on stations 3, 4 or 5.../ by pulling the case positioning ram on station 1 back and slide case out of holder.../ or by moving a small spring loaded positioning lever to remove a case in station 2.....

It is very easy to remove any of the 5 cases in process from the 650 press.... I do it whenever it's required...not often.../ but weighing a powder drop once in a while is easy and then reinsert the case after you weigh powder and return powder to the case back into stations 3 or 4 is easily done....or when seating a new primer in station 2 doesn't feel quite right just move the spring loaded positioning lever and slide the case right out & check it and reinsert it - or toss it out if the primer got deformed as it was inserted....

I actually used that trick yesterday on some primers and other random crap. I don't know if thats a flaw or just how they do it but it works

My 1st press i learned to reload on was a 650. Watched the Dillon video and a ton, i mean a ton of Youtube video's. I went slow and had zero problems. Started with 9mm then 45,44,38/357,380. I then got a Redding T7 for .223, .308. So i did things a bit backwards going to a single stage as my 2ed press, so the forums tell me..:D
Anyway, the dillon is a big heavy duty press that i'm not sorry for buying. and there support is great, they never rush you off the phone. It is pricy but, 1. quality will cost. 2. you will have this the rest of your life, buy it once and your done.
I have not used the LNL but checked one out. it looked to be built very well.

If you are only loading 300-500 rounds per session, I would get the RL550B. That was the advise I got and the press I went with.

Set up takes about 10 minutes tops. 500 quality rounds in about 1.5 hours.

Like most, I had been stockpiling components for a while. After I got the 550B, I had loaded up everything I own in about a week.

Actually, all of them were checked. If you watch the beginning of the video I verify that both the low primer alarm and the high/low powder check die are functioning, that is the "beep, buzz" sound before I begin.

The press you linked to however does not have a powder check die.

This is how I set my autodrive press up so it checks every round as well.

My point was the cost of it. The op is coming from a single stage he needs not spend that much money on a new progressive press.;)

I agree there are cheaper ways to load ammunition.

With jojo's comments.
... I'm ready to load more faster. I don't have a bunch of time to fiddle around with things, so I just want it to work.

Having had a few LNL's and 650's myself, the 650 is the one I would pick.

6000 rounds a year could be done with the equipment he has, so he really doesn't need to spend any money.

I decided on the Dillon. Thanks for all your input.

I would be interested to know at what point you load yourself out of a job? :)

I have had my Dillon RL550B for a few years now. It took me about a week to load up all the components I had been hoarding for the previous 3 years or so. Mine is even manually indexed.

I just saw yesterday that Midway has Speer Gold Dot 45ACP, 230 grain bullets in stock. Ordered up 200 rounds for my carry gun. Oh crap, do I have any cases? Better go look.

I don't load up everything I have, I keep a stockpile unloaded. Idc how long it takes me to load all my current components as long as it's fast lol. However fast the 550 is, the 650 is faster and that's what I want. Glad the 550 works for what u need, I can't wait to get mine setup.
