What I orginally stated was the ingredients were virtually identical, which is exactly the same as your analogy in which those ingredients are the same, regardless of any other ingredients that may be different
The current "Gunscrubber" is a totally new "synthetic safe" version which helps confirm the fact most chlorinated products have been taken off the market
I suspect Birchwood Casey changed it on their own due to complaints about the old formula being hard on synthetic materials that are much more common in guns now than when it was originally developed
Even the new version cautions about possible damage to anything other than metal
