Home defense/ Where you live

I live alone in a modest home in a small subdivision since my wife passed away.
We have a very large population of illegals in our area, not specifically in my subdivision, but in the Houston- Harris County area and crime is way up.
My neighboring houses have about 15 feet between them and mine.
I keep a Mossberg 930 SPX autoloader next to my headboard, loaded with 6 #4 buck plus one in the pipe, ready. The side saddle holds 5 more rounds mixed of #4 and # 1 buck. The shotgun has a BSA tactical light, laser combo mounted on the rail.
I keep an ammo belt loaded with 25 rounds of #6 shot hanging on a door handle to grab as I go by if needed. Hope I never need that extra 25 rounds!
I also keep a few handguns, .40 S&W and .44 Mag, stashed strategically through the house. I have an AK in the closet handy if needed, too.

I live in an extremely isolated area. Sheriff response time in the day time is 45 min to several hours. At night it would probably be daylight or later.

I have 1 1/2 mile of private road from the closest county road.

I have an electric gate 1000 ft from the house, 3 dogs.

I figure that any confrontation is going to be outside the house with me on the second floor deck looking down on intruders at least 50 ft from my house. There is a 4ft wall around the front of the house.

I keep a 1911 in night stand a .45 colt lever gun by the stand wife has a glock 19 on her stand and an AR 15 next to it. I keep a 270 win and several hand guns in my upstairs office that exits to the upper deck there is a short barrel 870 in the kitchen.

Farm land here. Have a m50 mounted on the barn cupola, a small one person helicopter fully stocked with air to ground missles, if they get past that they then have to accost the bloody maiden.... you never want to accost the bloody maiden....not one person has survived that one.

A good 12 ga pump or semi auto works well, when out doing work and chores there is a .45 1911 in the coat pocket. In the tractor is a ruger 10/22 with a 30 rd mag, never know when you will need that one, coyotes are back again.

I have a real kewl weed burner hooked up to a 20lb propane jug, it shoots flame for burning weeds like 10 or 15 ft, I think it would do fine in a HD situation outside the house.

I have often thought what would happen if I run a bad guy into the combine with a corn head on.... or the chipper we use for limbs and such.

There is a hog pen down the road, a guy tossed in there will be converted into ol number 2 and used for fertilizer.

Got a 6 ft bull snake in the feed barn, I have used him to scare grown men :) had a huge guy scream like a little girl and run off once when I put the snake into a wood box and let him open it, that snake raised his head and hissed. Jerry squeeled and ran off.....

We have lots of things to deterr crime out on the farm.

One time I put aluminum foil all around the duck pond on a sunny day. Them ducks would try to get to the water lifting one foot then the other....

Or one time I put caramels in the chicken feed, them chickens got all stuck up, trying to open their beaks eyes all bulging out.....

Yep, they call me the mean farmer, this summer i am making a batch of corn dogs for the fair, you dont want to know whats in them, no you dont want to know....

Have a 12 guage Persuader w/ BB & 00 rds close at hand for home defense.
for outside I prefer carrying my Beretta 92FS or my SA XD-9 subcompact depending on the season.

Well rifles have their place I prefer using them for hunting or long range target shooting.

Stoeger Coachgun for the first two shots, but if that doesn't solve the problem and they're on me in the darkness really quickly, then go to the Hissatsu behind the bed!

I live in suburbia..burglars, serial killers, rapists, and home invasions..

Since this isn't a carry scenario, don't have to conceal..why compromise?...I have three fullsize hicap 45s, two of which are P14s...very reliable, very accurate...if it becomes a seige, or disaster...out comes the shotgun...

We live in a typical suburban neighborhood with houses all around. Out the back door the nearest home is about 1/4 mile so that gives me some leeway and in the front the closest place is probably 300 yards. Left and right they are 20-25 feet.

Right by my bed under the night table in a GunVault safe is a SIG P228 9mm, with Crimson Trace grips loaded with one in the chamber.

On my night stand is a Glock G36 .45acp loaded but with no round chambered. This is my predominent carry weapon.

In the kitchen downstairs in a GunVault safe (same combination as the upstairs safe) is a SIG P220 .45acp loaded with one in the chamber.

In my wife's side of the bed is her purse with a Taurus PT709 9mm fully loaded, no round chambered. This is her daily carry weapon.

85 pound Belgian Malinois at different places around the house throughout the night. :)

I realize that both a 9mm and .45acp can go through a couple of walls and then to a neighbor's home but the chances are slim and I will play the odds on that one.

We have 1911 .45 acp pistols, a 5.56 carbine, and a 12 ga. shotgun.

The wife prefers the shotgun. I prefer the carbine. Our choices have nothing to do with where we live.
