Thats ok though because its the army. Thats how this whole deal works. If you are military, law enforcement, government, whatever, its okay to "wear the gear", but the interesting part comes when ordinary shmoes throw on a tactical vest and knee pads and everything in between, pretending that they are some sort of "operator". It works best when accompanied by ravings about SHTF and preparedness, and even better when the culprit is in a "wannabe" position like Mall Security or something else. Dont get me wrong though, there is nothing at all wrong with being a security guard, or anything else. Nobody deserves to be railed because of their career choice. The issue does come though, when said "operators" take on the mindset that they are in a much more authoritative position than they really are. The point of the whole "Mall Ninja" thing isnt to rag on Security guards in general, just the ones who dont quite see themselves in the same light that everyone else does.....

The dweeb's a mall security guard turned school security guard who is, get this, shotgun qualified, or as he puts it, SG qualified.

Someone sent this to me and said it was his MySpace site. Still not exactly sure what the hell MySpace is--sounds like it's for the younger generation--but reading this guy's description of himself is hilarious . . . at first. Then it gets a little scary as it looks like he actually believes it.

About me:
Although I cannot say much about myself; I'll start saying I'm a Tactical Security Enforcer in one of America's biggest malls (exact location undisclosed). I chose the duty of packing heat all time to serve and protect, although my jobzone is much more difficult than the patrol zones cops usually go around. As Captain of the Elite TSE Unit, we conduct grueling training in martial arts, firearms, emergency procedures, hostage situations, and backup assistance to the cops, if they fail (doughnuts en masse slow down the body). I use only Second Chance Body Armor, with IIIA level ceramic plates, and sew in (well my wifey did) another IIIA plate in order to maximize my protection. We carry Springfield XD's with .40JHP ammo, but I always carry some FMJ bullets which I slit and X on the point, making them incredibly powerful.

Then reading the wacko crap at that board where he posted his pictures of himself and the opinions/defense of him by the others, it gets even more frightening.

I mean, they actually compare and equate his service as a school security rent-a-cop (not even a licensed, certificated peace officer) with what our SOG groups are doing over in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Where do these fruitcakes come from?

Jeff

Thats an excerpt from the "Gecko45" joke thread over at GlockTalk that originally inspired the term "mall ninja". The guy in the original post isnt related to that thread or description, except in spirit. And MySpace is pretty much an internet hangout for people who have nothing better to do than sit online and mope about life to their friends.

So, what, exactly does this thread have to do with either tactics or training? If you guys spent half as much time working on your dryfire as you do on making fun of another forum, I'd be impressed.

Lot's of people who work in the security industry use their background in security to gain entry into law enforcement, and lot's of people in law enforcement use their law enforcement back ground to gain entry into security positions. It's a two edged sword.

Your point is well-taken, but we need to be aware of these forums for the simple fact that the antis who troll around do not necessarily have the brains to make the distinction between this forum and one who whore themselves out to such idiots. When we apply for carry permits, the controlling departments (especially in the less-friendly states) are aware of these dip-sticks also. The Brady Bunch knows about them, and so does Hillary, and with the IACP starting to get grant money from the Joyce foundation, these whackos affect us directly. I wouldn't want to see it often, but we should keep a weather eye open. It may remind a few of us how bad we can look if we post without thinking, or to re-consider our sig line.

1. It clearly shows you how NOT to dress for any situation (other than Halloween) that could be considered tactical.

2. It clearly shows that there is a whole underworld of posers, wannabes and outright frauds out there. People who don't know about guns or tactics just might listen to these wackos and believe them. And THAT is a scary thought.

3. It clearly shows what kind of Rambo-wannabes are working within our security industry--not all, but enough to definitely merit concern and have the legitimate security professionals seriously consider "policing" their own. We don't need these kind of people in ANY position of authority, regardless of how slight that authority might be.

4. It clearly shows who the number one enemy of the Second Amendment is, and it's not the Sarah Brady's of the world. It's people like that dweebo who dressed up like an idiot and then posted his pictures and then DEFENDED himself in a way that makes every gun-owner look bad.

Want me to continue?

Jeff
