Hog Meat Question?

Hey Freak-N-2,
So you may just like this little bugger!
P2250570.jpg

Kinda like a personal size pig roast akin to a personal pan pizza...! Junior ate the whole thing minus a taste for me and the next day he assured me that "pork overdose" is a real condition with serious "repercussions":D:eek:
We don't waste any pigs we get if at all possible... Junior said it was the best eating meat he ever had and I must say it was mighty fine eatin' and had zero spices, herbs or anything added...

"Dey will go through BONNNE, like buhtah! So be very wary of any man who keeps a pig fahm!"

And that movie quote is the gosh darned truth, too.

When I was 7 and visiting my relatives in Italy, I came across a domestic pig in a cinderblock pen. Being 7, I wanted to play with and feed the piggy. Not having any real food, I peeled off a little chunk of mortar from the pen wall abot the size of a marble and tossed it into the pen.

God's honest truth, the pig ATE the piece of mortar. a.k.a. Cement. a.k.a. A rock.

He ATE it!!

Chewed it, crunchy as you can imagine, swallowed, and looked at me as if to say "mmm, thanks, got any more?"

While it may be just southern lore, it is a repeated story of "revenuers" bein' fed to the hogs.
It is fact that the bigger moon shine stills had hog pens nearby as the sour mash pulp was fed to them to get rid of it and the hog pen stink masked the smell of moonshine making...
Food for thought...:D

Invite?

Hey hogdogs,

If I trash the way you hunt hogs, can I get an invite to join you?

Will ya pay my way down and back too?

Trashin in a nice way is fine as is a debate albeit a bit heated... But utter meanness may git ya fed to the hogs;):D... I don't pay the way but unless you insist on stayin' in a motel and not comin' by the house, we will feed ya'...

Trichinosis has been around forever. May be the reason some cultures doe't eat pork. Certainly the reason pork is never eaten rare. But, the hog has to eat meat to complete the life cycle and since nobody feeds domestic pigs meat anymore it's pretty much gone. I did have a neighbor get it about 40 years ago.

If a wild pig has access to raw meat then make sure it's cooked done.

A lot of cases of Trichinosis are found in Asian people who move to the New World, as pork is often consumed raw in Asia because Trichinosis does not exist there (or is extremely rare).
