I was finally able to get out of the house and spend half a day at the range!
So, I've got a 338 winmag Savage Hog Hunter. Love this gun as I said before. I've got her set up with:
Shot like crap in the beginning, but after about 30 rounds, the groups started to tighten up as the barrel broke in.
My last group was 4 shots into 3 holes using 225gr Federal Fusion. The middle hole is the one with 2 shots in it.
I measured about 1.75" vertical string and I attribute that to me, I think the rifle can do better.
I also plan to try something 200-210gr next go around. Scuttlebutt says it shoots better with the lighter stuff.
As for recoil, it wasn't too bad. The PWS muzzlebrake softened it a lot. I put 40 rounds of 338 winmag downrange and no bruised shoulder. I've shot .308's that kick less than this.

- EGW rail
- Weaver Leverlok rings
- Leatherwood 2.5-10x44 scope (very good scope for the $$$)
- Harris 9-13 notched bipod
- PWS PRC muzzlebrake
