Hodgdon HP38 for 9mm plinking ammo

HP-38 or Win. 231 powder is all I use in my handgun calibers. I reload 9mm with Berry's 115 gr plated (4.6gr. HP-38), .38 Spcl, .44 Spcl and .45 ACP with great results! It's nice not to have to have four different powders for four different handgun rounds, and they all shoot well. The .44 Spcl rounds in my SuperBlackhawk are like a lazer and so are the .45 ACP rounds in my Les Baer.

I have a couple of good 124/125gr loads with HP-38. I found it worked better on the upper end of the recommended load data provided by Hodgdon.

I have been using CFEpistol for the past 14 months. My guns run a lot cleaner with the CFE.

I have been using TiteGroup for my 9mm loadings. 115 and 124 Berrys as well as 115 Hornady XTP. 115gn Berrys is at 4.2gns, 124 Berrys is at 3.9gns and the XTP is 4.6gns. 500 of the XTPs are loaded in nickle cases and stuffed away in storage. They shot well in my Glock 19, 43 and M&P. The Berrys are used at the range for training. I have about a pound and half of TiteGroup left. Once I use it all up I might try something else. Not sure what yet...

The 124gn Berrys loading has about the same feel as 124gn +P GoldenSabers. The GoldenSabers are what I use as a carry load.

Anyone tried CFE Pistol?

Sure. Two loads I'm happy with;

Berry's 124 plated with 5.2 grains CFE Pistol and OAL of 1.150 is 1071fps with an 11.2 SD.

Standard 115FMJ round nose in front of 4.8 grains of CFE Pistol at an OAL of 1.120 is 1023fps with a 40SD, but it was very very accurate in my PX4.
