HK usp

I have the USP in .40s&w which has the slightly smaller grip. I have the variant that's da/sa with the safety/decocker. It was my first HK and probably my favorite full size .40 pistol. I know HK has mad a lot more advancements and ergonomic grips for there pistols, but I still favor the older USP. Super reliable and a great shooter.

I have probably over a dozen .45 autos with most of the major players (M&P, 1911s, Glock, Ruger, Taurus, XD, etc. ) and my USP-45 is still king of the hill when it comes to performance and quality of my .45 collection.

I had a P2000 at one point basically a upgraded usp and I loved it except for the trigger (had a LEM trigger) but the build quality, reliability and accuracy were fantastic.

r,

I have the HK USP-compact .45 along with a number of other pistols to compare it to (Sigs, SW 3rd gens, Beretta, etc). The pros- reliable and accurate. The cons- worst DA trigger of any of my pistols- long and severely stacks. SA trigger is just average. Mags are expensive, often over $50 each. Aftermarket parts can be hard to find, Priced higher than many other comparable pistols. So I'm glad I have one but won't buy another.

best wishes- oldandslow

Big, reliable, highly accurate, and I think they are the softest shooting .45 out there. The ergo's didn't work for me though. I now shoot the HK45C.

Huge, clunky, funny ergonomics, DA/SA trigger was very unimpressive, LEM trigger was worse.

Borrow or rent one to shoot if possible before you buy one.

Some people really like them, but there's a reason you don't see many of them in competitions.

I have the H&K usp45 compact, great pistol. Reliable as any. Trigger takes some practice and i hated buying extra mags at $54 each. I would buy again if I needed another. good luck

I am looking into possibly getting a HK USP .45
There are several models to choose from, however a plain jane USP is a very solid, very robust pistol. They are accurate and easy to shoot well. There is a strong used market if you want to save some cash over a new one.

...but there's a reason you don't see many of them in competitions.

What is the reason?

I have two USP .45's. An Expert and a Tactical. They are both great guns. I've shot base models in 9, 40 and 45 over the years and they are quite capable.

Probably my favorite 45 on the market.

Huge, clunky, funny ergonomics, DA/SA trigger was very unimpressive, LEM trigger was worse.

Huge, compared to what? It's thinner than the Glock 21. It's smaller all around than the FNX 45. The trigger on mine is spectacular. LEM and I don't get along very well though.

In years past I bought a USP 45 when they were much less costly, I really liked it, I dont recall a thing wrong with it and I'm not real clear nowadays on why I sold it.

If I where in one of those dumb hypothetical "going off to war" scenarios the USP/HK45 would be my pick... but if I had other things to buy along with a pistol I'd happily tote along the very capable Glock 21.

It comes down to money and I'm not sure I'd give up the current asking price for the USP whether its worth it or not... its gotten well into my all-metal-heirloom price range.

I tried out both the USP45 and the HK45 at the range a couple different times.

I own the HK45 full size and just adore it and it works much better for me.

Try an USP45 before buying one. I have no desire to own anything from the HK USP line.

I was pretty much sticking to SIG; X5, X6, 1911s, etc. for target shooting, with Ruger, Buckmark, S&W and others thrown in the mix. Bought a H&K p30s a year, or so, ago. Loved everything, but the triggers. Sold it because of the trigger. Then I discovered the H&K Mark 23 and the USP series. I like the USP Tactical and the Expert; have one of each in each caliber. The match triggers are great! Wish the Mark 23 had the match trigger; the regular trigger is a bit heavy, but it's smooth and has a crisp release. All of mine are great handguns, accurate and reliable.

Huge fan of the USP line. Some folks gripe about the trigger but I am not one of them. I have never had a complaint about the trigger. I like the hard pull for the first round of the DA/SA variation.
I chose the USP as my first hand gun because I tried several and I shot the USP the best. Guess the trigger is not a problem, at least not for me. I have shot MANY different hand guns now and I still shoot the USP better than the others.
as to quality, accuracy, and reliability, it is at the top of the list!

I prefer the USP in 9 and 40. The 45 is a bit chunky in the grip. I own all 3.

If we selected the USP as our sidearm like the Bundeswehr has, I might have to stand and applaud.

I love the USP platform and have several. I have had nothing but perfect reliability and remarkable accuracy from all of mine. Plus, you can put that sweet, sweet match trigger in them. It's one of the best triggers available on any polymer pistol.
