HK USP 9

Where are you guys seeing them at these prices? Locally, they are asking $750 used when you can find one and about $900 new with night sights. I did a quick run through Gunbroker and didn't see much in the $600 range.

In my experience local shops nearly always charge more than online. They have to charge more due to overhead plus they probably order fewer guns thus getting worse deals from the distributor. I just checked and they are currently $788, but around Thanksgiving Bud's Gunshop had new USP 40's for just under $700 if I remember correctly.

I don't think I've ever met someone who didn't like his USP. 750.00 might be a little high. Though 200 rounds is so few, your friend has to compete with other USP options out there. I would think 650.00-700.00 would be about right with the extra mag. But, if you want it bad enough, the price is whatever you are willing to pay. Nice thing about the 9mm and .40 USP is you can get a jetfunnel and mags. That gives you 18+1 in 9 and 16+1 in .40

I'm inclined to think the price is a bit high. But, I'm that way; never want to pay what's asked; always make a lower offer.

However, I swear by the USP's; I have two Tactical and two Experts, both in 9mm and 45ACP. I went with those models because of match triggers. I agree with most folks who own HK's, hard to go wrong with any USP.

$750 is too high. A local gun store had nice police trade-in USP40s warm the shelves for quite a while at $499.

Granted, the 9mm USP is more desirable to most folks, but I wouldn't spend too much over $600 on one.

Bought my Compact 9 locally for $650 from the LGS, and it appeared to have very few rounds put through it. Online the prices seem be higher, so I waited for something a bit more local.

$699 for a P2000 in 40 is pretty high. They went through a price reduction a year or two ago and in general aren't as desired as the USP/USPc anyway.

The best deals on USPs I've seen tend to be police trade-ins online, or used on local forums, Armlist, Guntrader, etc. I got a very nice po-surp USP 40 for $350 on Gunbroker.

Even though OP passed on the gun (good move given the price), I can't pass on the opportunity to sing the praises of the USP. I have probably 10 or 11 of them, in all the different flavors, and it's by far my favorite polymer combat gun. Best of all are the Elite/Match/Expert, because you get the supreme and proven reliability mixed with exceptional target performance. My Elite 9mm's test target shows less than an inch at 25m.

Anyone who doesn't have a knee-jerk loathing of the DA/SA system* owes it to themselves to add a USP of some sort to their stable, ideally one with a match trigger.

*And those who do could try one in LEM...

easyeach, take a look at the SAR ST10. It's a hp usp clone with an alloy frame. I just purchased one on a whim brand new for $359. Have a 1000 rounds through it & it has been flawless.

Amen.

I have a full size USP9 in a Matt Del Fatti IWB holster that I absolutely love. I dropped a HK Match Trigger in mine (the very same that comes in the USP 45 Tactical and it is now a tack driver with a crisp light trigger. While it eats any 9mm that I feed it and has never failed me in all the years I've owned it the pistol prefers 124 grain ammo. Since the VP9 came out I've been carrying it when I want a 9mm on my hip. I keep my USP9 in the glove box, or the nightstand and still take it to the range frequently. At $650 you can't beat it with 3 mags. Good luck and have fun shooting it.
