HK P9S - Should I buy it?

Buy it. Mine in 9mm is superb. Do replace the buffer. Last I saw Numrich had them. Numrich also recently announced a new supply of mags.

I agree, they are great guns. I have a P9 - but otherwise identical to the P9S. I did have one quirky thing happen. I was at the range and suddenly the slide wouldnt move forward all the way. Closer look and the bottom screw to access the buffer fell out - this resulted in the top screw and access cover popping up. So I guess you should make sure that you screw it in tight :)

There are aftermarket magazines out there. I tried four of them and they all worked just fine. I put the P9 through its paces in a 3 Gun shoot and it was great - it took a little getting used to because of the frequent mag changes, but accuracy more than made up for it.

I actually like the bottom mag release - I went to the range with only my HK P9s and a Walther P38 (both bottom mag release), and the motion was second nature by the end of the range session.

Loving my HK P9s - I'll post pics next week.

I've always wanted one of these, but never "pulled the trigger".....yet. Congrats, they are fine pistols.

The .45s are considerably more scarce than the 9mm, and command a premium price for that reason.

I had the recoil buffer replaced a year or so ago; kept the original - the gunsmith said it looked perfectly OK, but it's decades old.

A very classy design. If it has a flaw, it is that the grips favor a large hand.

I said I would post pics:

I guess I should jump on the one that's lnib for $600 in the gunshop next town over??? I have a gun on layaway, but if that hk is there when I go pick up my DW I may I have to put $50 down on it.

p9s 45

I live faraway in South Africa and have a .45 P9s.Changed the buffer which I obtained without difficulty from Numrich USA as a precaution.First time I shot it I put 20 rounds in a 7 inch circle at 20 meters.Nary a hassle and without a single stoppage, even though I was shooting a lot of SWC's.Couldn't do much better with my target sighted 6 inch barreled Colt Python 357.
And this weapon carries superbly because of its flat contours and shows very little signature under a T shirt.

By far the most versatile major calibre full size carry pistol around.
