HK P30 Problems

I currently own a HK p30sk V1 w/decocker, along with 9 other HK's and once owned a p30s. All my guns get cleaned, inspected and lubricated before seeing the range. I've never had the issues experienced by the OP with an HK handgun. But, I know those issues exist; primarily for all, or some of reasons already given. If one has a real problem caused by HK, their service is good.

Most of what I experience is heavy springs causing issues. On new 9mm guns with issues, I shoot 147 gr ammo and leave the slide locked back when stored. After a couple of hundred rounds thru the gun, the issues generally go away. I have a Sphinz Compact that is the tightest pistol I've ever owned. It has had 600 rounds thru it; and Tuesday was the first time I've run 50-60 rounds with it locking the slide back everytime. Every session is better with that gun; it's feeling looser.

I got a STI Match Master 9mm awhile ago. It easily has the lightest recoil springs I've ever experienced. The slide feels like it moves in slow motion, just rumbles back and forth.

Back to the Gun Store

HK Problems Part 2,

Friend goes back to gun store with Jamamatic HK and they tell him to CLEAN IT !!

He goes home watches Youtube video and takes gun apart.

Anyway, the insides are actually dry. So he sprays lube onto slide and trigger mechanism and brushes in.
Back to the range. With the same ammo (Remington and American Eagle) the gun works flawlessly with both types of ammo and using both mags.

Happy Ending:)

Moral of the story - Try not to be overcome with “Irrational exuberance”
when getting a new gun, take it home and clean it first.

Alternatively, ... your friend could have arranged for the Glock chick pictured above to strip the gun down, lube it up liberally, all slick like, re-assemble it, and run it hard for the aforesaid "break-in" roundage.

Same happy result, and if he happen to video-tape it, well, even better. :D
