Historical context for the war on terror.

357, muslims comprise of 1/4 of the worlds population ( 700,000,000 ). I'm pretty sure Bush isn't stupid enough to invade them all, but he's suprised me before.

I'm still trying to figure out how you physically make war on a concept. Of course, the government has also been trying to figure out how to fight an inanimate object (drugs are bad, okay) for 20 years.

I'm looking forward to upcoming wars on certain states of mind.

Exactly, the "War on Terror" is a farce from the get-go, just as the war on drugs was/is, but even more so. You can't possibly win (or lose) a war that has no defined enemy, no defined measure of success. More importantly, there is never an end to such a farse, which is precisely what the fedgov had in mind when it invented that phrase in order to expand its power and control of the peasants (through fear among the sheeple) permanently. Unfortunately, the media has swallowed that bogus phrase, and therefore has swallowed the farce in its entirety, hook, line, and sinker, since WORDS MATTER. The retribution emotions generated by the attack on 9/11/01 has caused media masters to throw their critical judgment out the window (assuming they had had any left).

they hate us for being in their holy sites and for what they perceive as our irrational support for Israel
Glad you clarified that as being their perception. Too bad their holy sites are also the holy sites of other groups.

But I'm afraid they hate us for their own reasons and those aren't amenable to rational discourse. As per my original post on this topic, we/they are as alien to one another as the Aztecs and the conquistadors. It is sad that our politicians have defined this as a war on terror.

(This administration isn't big on learning from the past. Hence the continued war on drugs, trickle-down economics, etc. )

The Iraq conflict has 'civil/religious war' stamped all over it now, with more attacks being directed at the Shiite population that the Sunni's kept down for a few decades. They don't seem to be going after the general populous like the Palistinians do, so my interpretation is changing. Its now mostly US troops, Iraqi administration/police and Shiite leadership casualties. I don't support it at all, but I can't rationally call them terrorists instead resistance/religious fighters anymore. Civilian casualties during directed attacks with excessive force just makes them Israeli's. Major cluster F* is more appropriate.

This is also based on obviously filtered news reports, so I may be way off base anyway.

They also desecrate their own holy sites through using them as bunkers/firing points.

“Trickledown-economics” is the greatest economic principle. “It” has down more to raise our national prosperity level than any other single thing. I for one and extremely grateful to have another president that recognizes its value and is intent on re-establishing it.

The only trickle-down....

The only thing "trickling down" is the liquid nitrogenous waste from the New Robber Barons as they relieve themselves on us.....
