High grade FMJ rounds?

The major ammo makers don't have different reliability levels of primers that go into different grades of ammo.

This answered it for me, thats what I ment to ask. About the primers, I thought there were different grades of them.

I haven't had a single failure to fire since I started buying the cheapest 9mm on the shelf locally, either american eagle or wwb.

Is that fact or supposition?
As a reloader I buy primers from many different manufacturers. Other than brand name they all come the same way, small pistol, small pistol magnum, large pistol, etc. There's no premium or mid grade or low end offered by any of them.

I surprised no one has mentioned RWS FMJ, it is very good stuff.

9mm ball

NATO spec M882 9mm ball has a 124 grn FMJ bullet at about 1250 feet per second.

You can find contract over-run ammo available sometimes.

Winchester 9mm NATO ball is Q4318

Federal 9mm NATO ball is FAXM982

It's hotter & more expensive than what you need for "average" practice shooting. It works really well, and the quality control is high.

I have a bunch of GI Ball (from both manufacturers) that I use if I shoot 9mm at an IPSC or IDPA match.

That one can go in the fact column. There are standard primers, magnum primers, match grade primers, extra hardness primers, berdan primers and probably more. All of them are designed for a certain use but none are inherently more or less reliable.
