The higher cost of fuel to go to and fro , cost of corn, etc afffected you inyour hunting hobby? Have u decided it isnt worth the cost and hassle rather instead spent the money to buy meat at Walmart which is just right around the corner?

No, but the new house has, not because of money issues, but time. Too many projects the last 6-8 weeks to shoot as much as I normally do.
It's slowing down now, so as long as I can keep the wife out of Lowes and Home Depot I can get back to the important stuff:D

I still plan to hunt just as much, so I will more than likely be taking fewer weekend trips and more week-long trips.

Lower my cost of living

It don't help thats for sure. I may eat less, stay away from "HARRAHS", give up "RED MAN" and walk to work. But I'm not going to let it affect my shooting and hunting.

My hunting won't be affected as most of my hunting spots are close to home. My fishing trips have been cut way back though.

Nope - my buddy and I are just more cautious about making sure we both split the cost of gas.

Gas is high, but I'd cut a lot of other things out before I stop hunting.

Hunting

I do a lot of ground hog hunting. I wanted to hunt Ohio this year. That is probably out because of gas prices. I also travel to SE PA a lot to hunt. I will still do that, but the only reason I will be able to is that I started saving gas money at Christmas time, in anticipation of this price increase. Tom.

Ha, I just made my buddy drive the 40 miles to where we go for turkey yesterday just based on that. Too bad I probably didn't save any money because we picked a place that was a little too nice for lunch on the way back. Boy is it a slow year though - I got one bird talking to me in 2 days, didn't come in either. First time it looks like I might be empty-handed since my first spring turkey season.

Cut back on the out of state hunts....combination of increased license fees and gas for 1500 mile trips just isn't worth it. At one time I would hunt 4-6 different states each year, no more. Now hunting closer to home.

I might be grilling hotdogs instead of a porterhouse at deer camp this fall....but I'll still be there ;)

I keep telling the wife, if it gets too bad, I'll guit paying for cable TV....that will put one more tank full in my truck each month....and I won;t have to listen to American Idol anymore.....

I am struggling with that issue now. Its just plane sickening.
I think the pickup is going to have to stay home. Will have to drive a smaller vehicle :barf: Its going to change things thats for sure.

This year will be tough since fuel is high but what else do I have to look forward to other than deer hunting. This year I might have to go stay at hunting camp for 2 or 3 weeks. Heck if I was retired I'D stay up there 2 or 3 months and then, I would be divorced when I got back......

gas is expensive but getting decent mileage makes it so that while its inconvienebt to pay for gas, it doesnt effect my lifestyle

No, I'll be hunting and fishing just as much, with two changes:

1. I won't go alone near as much as I used to, because I want a friend along to make the trip worth it as much as I need someone to split gas with.

2. Fewer trips, but longer trips. Not many one day runs out to the deer camp.

I still plan to be in Colorado in October, Kansas in December, and Louisiana in January. Gas is gonna have to get awful high for me not to want to ride down the highway with some good buddies.

how much is your petrol and diesel over there lads ?

here it is £130.9 per ltr :mad:

what a rip off that is most of the shoots i go to are miles away to :(
