I can see someone getting shot because protecting their $110 mag was more important than protecting them self. I'm not spending $110 on an expendable item.
On another note, you do know that if you do have to shoot someone, that $110 magazine will be the least of your financial problems don't you? First your pistol and all your magazines will be confiscated as evidence, you might get it back, you might not, $500 down the drain. Then you will go to jail, and have to get a lawyer and bailbondsman, say another cash outlay of $1000. A few weeks later your criminal trial will start, your friendly lawyer is again by your side, $7500. If it was a justified shooting, your free to go. BUT now the dead BG's relatives line up for the civil trial, you do still have that lawyers phone # don't you, good, here goes another $7500. If by some miracle you win that one, good for you, otherwise, get ready to pay 75% of all your future income to the poor deceased's assorted familial units.
So in a best case scenario, you'll only be out $15,000 or so, that makes that $100 magazine cost rather trivial don't you think?
If your worried about the cost of saving your life, then maybe you need to rethink carrying a pistol for self-defense.
