Hidden rifle/shotgun in your vehicle?

^^^ Although Canadian gun laws are generally a lot more stringent than American ones, there is no direct analog to the NFA, and some weapons that would be considered NFA short-barreled rifles or shotguns in the United States are treated just like ordinary long guns; they're not subject to the rigmarole that goes with Restricted or Prohibited firearms.

A good way to broadly explain Canadian gun laws to an American gun owner is to imagine a system where handguns and semi-auto detachable-magazine long guns are NFA (Restricted), while small handguns and NFA weapons like machine guns are off-limits to people who don't already own one (Prohibited), but there is no specific "bright-line" limit on barrel length for shotguns and rifles that don't fall into these two classes.
