Hi-Power or 1911 9mm??

Interesting thread! Does anyone have a picture of a BHP with the "Michaels of Oregon" (Uncle Mike's) rubber grips designed by Spegel? They don't show a photo of them on their website.
Thanks,
Mike

Browning/FN is to 9mm what Colt is to .45. Go with the Browning. I had Don Williams (The Action Works, Chino Valley, AZ) do a Browning trigger for me a few years ago and he did a marvelous job.

Jason, if you like the 13 round mag capacity of the BHP, you'll love the 17 round KRD mags available at www.cdnninvestments.com. They are good mags. They have about a 1/2" pad at the bottom of the mag, so they don't really affect concealability. They run $20.

They also give you a "poor man's trigger job". On BHP's with the mag safety still in place, the trigger pull is affected by the quality of the finish on the mag. These KRD mags have a very nice finish.

I agree..... no gun collection is complete without a BHP and I do have one. I don't agree that taking out the mag safety disconnect on a BHP is EASY..... some have had to resort to the use of tactical nuclear weapons to loosen the trigger pin! Not for the faint-hearted and many have trashed the frame and trigger from errant punches gone awry. Not recommended for the newbie.

BTW: I also own an STI Trojan in 9mm and it is a superb gun. All I have ever done is shoot it for about 15k rounds (never needed any work). My kind of gun! And, it may retail for close to $1000 (?), but I got one for $875 new here in Kalifornia so that should be the upper line of the price range. Philisophically, I now subscribe to the theory it's smarter to pay an extra $300 for a gun that shoots perfectly without any work than one that needs tweaking.

Have both 1911's & BHP's. In 9mm the BHP is better, much better of the two. Toss the mag "safety" & get a good trigger job.

I have both the SA Loaded and the current BHP. Additionally, I owned, at one time, a BHP Capitan. I wish I still had it...but...that's a different story.

The current BHP trigger isn't "bad", it's just different than the older models. Yes, I've had the magazine safety removed and, the trigger improved. But, it's still a different feel than the older BHP's.

The BHP will never equal the 1911 trigger. They're different pistols in feel and function. The Springfield is my favorite shooter. I carry the BHP, however. If you can afford to, get both! You'll be glad you did.
