hi names cody im 20 years old ill be 21 this november and ive been looking into getting a 1911 and ive narrowed it down to the SA mil-spec 1911 or the Para-Ordnance GI expert .45 this will be my first handgun. any advice?:)

I'm a Colt fan, but if money is the issue, Springfield Armory

Both very good guns. Both being stock bet you`ll find a bit cleaner trigger with the Para but the Mil- Specs trigger can be smoothed out also. Para also has stock 3 dot sights. Hard choice! If I were you I`d shoot both before choosing.

i'd say take a glance at colt. quality, quality guns.

then go with the mil-spec or colt and completely forget about the Para-ordnance due to the GI Expert being an afterthought knock off when you could get the Colt's or Springfield's classic, time proven quality.

Mil- Specs trigger can be smoothed out also.

The Mil-Spec comes with a 38lb trigger
But seriously, they do use a very heavy mainspring. I think that it's a #26. Just substituting a standard spring helps (e.g. #23). I run a #19 on mine and haven't encountered any problems.

Hello Cody.

Not sure why I'm usually the one to ask this first, but...

Have you taken a safety class yet?

Also understand that 45 is quite expensive to shoot. I'd recommend something in 9mm first.

no i havn't takin any classes as of yet thats why im starting so early as far as looking thx for the advice on the 9mm if i go with that ill prolly go with one of springfields XD's how much is a box of .45's any way?

Canadian beer is great stuff. British beer is meant to be drunk warm. Don't drink Blackberry Brandy while eating greasy pizza - the taste is OK going down but, it will come up. Don't mix alcohol types. Drink in moderation.

Heeding the above advice will take you a long way as you pass the 21 mark. Oh, and on the guns, a parkerized SA will be a nice choice.
