He's "OUR GUY"!

Looks like we're beating the dead horse again...

To put it simply, Browne has no chance of winning. If you waste your vote in an election where Gore is currently LEADING on a candidate like Browne that cannot win, you'd better go back and start reading the posts on how to bury your guns safely. Gore knows gunowners hate him, and we will not survive another four years with our firearms rights intact with Gore in office. It's going to be open season on law-abiding gun owners should Gore win. Please, everyone, recite after me, "I will vote this November. The only thing keeping me from voting this year will be death. I will swallow my pride and vote only for Bush. I will do it for my kids and grandkids firearms rights."

I'm sorry, Libs, I just have to vote for Bush this time. First, the "selling us down the river"--he's had chances, and he hasn't taken them. Neither has Cheney, and he had the chance to look good to gun control advocates on a couple of nonsense votes (banning "cop killer bullets" and "plastic guns") without pissing off deer hunters. The point is, he didn't take it!

I wish we could have a libertarian candidate, but most of the voting population will NOT stand for it. They don't want that much freedom. Yes it's sad, but we can't change it by November.

I will vote for a libertarian for any office I can, LOCALLY. Dog catcher, sherriff, city council, state legislature--anyplace where the LP has a chance in Hell of winning. But not president, not yet. IMHO, the LP shouldn't even be fielding a candidate. It's a huge waste of already-tiny LP resources that could be used on local candidates.

In 10 years, or 20, will I vote for an LP president? Maybe. In that span of time, if they play their cards right, they MIGHT have a chance of getting the guy elected. But not this year, no way, no how.

Bush was solid in Texas on concealed carry, even when it was politcally dangerous to have that position. The media's having a frenzy because he called one of their own a "major a**hole." But he didn't apologize for the comment, but expressed regret that it was heard on an open mike. Gore would have given the a**hole a Monica just for a good review.
Who's got the cojones here? Not a question for me.

To you third-party folks: Please, please put your idealism second to realism for just this time. Just once. I know and understand your arguments, and you've brought me around, certainly on the local and state levels. But this race is neck-and-neck. Don't hand the race to Gore. My God, please don't do that to this country.

State-level: Libertarian

We need to build our base.

On drugs: Drugs are a demand-side problem, not a supply-side problem. We need to free up our wasted federal tax dollars and donate them to private drug education organizations.

So, some of you "Libbers" think I'm "stupid" because I criticized your vote diluting tactic of running for national office and grubbing for Federal Matching funds huh. Too bad. Deal with it cause it's true.
Think I don't know about "Libber" history and "Libber" positions. I know all I need to. Legalizing drugs and opening the borders is not for me.
You think those are good positions? Think your party has what it takes to run the US better than the others. Then, do what I suggested and prove it. Make it work somewhere.
Maybe some of you "Libbers" who are hot shot writers can expound eloquently on how the US would look and feel as run by Libertarians and thus, sway my allegiance and that of others.
Meanwhile, this election is too important to fool around with a "vote of principle". The Perot crowd got us to where we are now. So the only third party I want to see really doing good in this election is Nader and the Greens.

Actually, Perot would be classified as a populist ideologically. Populist believe in expanded government too. Perot want's the Army on the borders, and other expanded "Perot Approved" programs.

I don't think anyone has convinced me that there was a major drug problem in the United States prior to the "war on drugs." It was a non-problem that needed a Federal solution. Now we do have a major problem with drugs, and the more money we throw on the problem, makes the problem worse. How often do we see kids clammoring to purchase mouthwash, cough-syrup, or parepectolin? All of these in quantity would get you intoxicated. I would assume that the reason there isn't a huge urge to do these things is because they aren't illegal. You can get stoned silly by smoking grapevines. I live in the South where there are zillions of wild grapevines, and I don't seeing anyone cutting it up and smoking it. Funny- that would be a perfectly legal way to get high. Now whatcha want to bet that if the Federal Government outlawed the smoking or possession of grapevines, people would be killin' each other over the stuff. My point is that outlawing something doesn't stop people from doing it. Did the entire United States become alcoholics after prohibition ended?

You can argue against the Libertarians all you want. I can guarantee you that H. Browne WILL NOT win this year. Does that mean I don't agree with him? Nope. I think he's a hell of a lot better than the other two. When it comes to this year's election like every one before it, I will vote solely on what my conscience dictates. I will not allow fear to enter into my decision.
What's to say if Gore wins this election, that in four more years I wont be hearing all the drastic predictions for another four if I don't suck it up and vote for whomever the loser is that the Republicans pick next? It will be the same old story. If you vote your conscience, you'll lose this or that. The Republicans had a winner but didn't recognize him as such in Alan Keyes. I think most people voted for Bush because they thought that he "could win." I can't tell you the number of people who told me they liked Keyes the best, but were going to vote for Bush because he could win.
For now, I won't say who I will vote for President. I'll probably make up my mind while I'm waiting in line to vote. Maybe, if I'm really on the ball, I'll make up my mind over my November 7th morning coffee. All I can say with certainty is that whomever I vote for, it will be because they most likely have similar views about the direction of the country as myself.

Regardless of who wins the next election we all lose. Bush is a well-meaning geezer who drifted in, and Gore's certifiably mad.

Bush will not confront the left. He'll include them in and have us all make nice.

Get ready for President Hillary Rodham-Clinton in 2004 or 2008, soon to be followed by a coup d'etat via FEMA and Executive Orders and open armed revolt.

Amen kjm! What the Government needs to learn is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!!
