Here's another hate crime that will never be reported

First let me say that this was note worthy news and it should have been covered regardless of what the race's are. But when you talk about media bias you must also talk about status que.

If you follow/believe the media this is what one would expect to see.

If a black person commits a crime, they are usualy male and thuggish. If its a robbery the victim is usually white. If it's a murder the victim is usually black.

If there is a death as a result of a car crash; If the victim is white...they lost control, were racing/speeding.

If the victim is black it usually the result of a high speed police chase either he/she stole the car or was another motorist on the road that was hit by the stolen car.

Vary rarely do you see a white person on the news for commiting murder, and if they did they killed numerous people at once and had some sort of mental issue.

If a black person commits murder is "business as usual" its everyday and routine.

Guns are only used in crime unless used by a police officer

I say all this to say that we as AMERICANS should demand truthful, more balanaced reporting.

I would also say that if you witness something noteworthy...TELL THEM. The media doesn't make the news they report what was brought to their attention via scanner, phone call, public records...etc. Just be preparied for them to either reject it, not cover it, ignore it...etc

Juan,
Did they say who the father was yet ?

Naw, they've moved on to more important and newsworthy topics now. Like Don Imus.

I'm all for a fully funded independent news source such as the BBC. Take the money out of the equation and you might actually have some balanced reporting.

It probably wouldn't hurt. I still think to have "balanced" reporting is fairly difficult though...the BBC, for instance, does better than most but can still show a bit of bias from time to time. It's just a natural result of any news organization that's run by people.

But seeing a bit less bias, bringing both sides a little closer to the "center," would probably be a good thing. At that point it's on the public to be smart enough to get their news from more than one source. Anytime you're getting most of your info from just once source, you're probably being influenced by the bias of that organization. Just because their bias matches your own doesn't make them "right."

We have NPR but since they are all educated in liberal journalism schools and conservatives are always threatening to cut their funding, they are just as biased as the networks.

Numerous studies of bias in the media have substantiated that it is real. This study found that all major media outlets have a liberal bias. According to this study, even Fox News is left-leaning, just not as far left as the others.

Fox news is Neo-conservative....which simply means leftists in disguise that are at war with the out of the closet leftists. (I.E. Hannity & Colmes. Both argue every night about whether the republicans should support socialized health care or the democrats support socialized health care or whether the republicans are doing a better job building up the government or the democrats.)

Not quite. What you decide to do in your living room, is what you decide. It's not even relevant to what Marko was saying: Here, you will obey Rich's rules (you know, the ones you agreed to...) or out you go.

When we start beating each other up over another thread that was closed due to rampant racism and bring it into a new thread that had been a decent discussion on the same topic... Well it's time to close it up.
