California's Supreme Court ruled that the state attorney general could
add
> a wide variety of guns to the state's list of outlawed "assault weapons."
> Attorney General Bill Lockyer says, "The Supreme Court decision ...
> represents a major victory for gun safety and public safety in California.
My
> office will immediately begin taking the necessary steps to ensure that
the
> state assault weapons laws will be fully and vigorously enforced."

Even one of the judges involved in the court decision that led to these statements, referred to the law as being only marginally effective. More feel good, disarm the law abiding citizen, enable the criminal, ineffective, do nothing to reduce crime legislation

Well, I guess that rifles of any type are gone from kalifornia. All pistols will be next (that is if the ammo ban is passed, then pistols will be worthless anyway). The worst part about this whole thing is that they (stupid people and laws) are affecting Oregon to which I'll be moving to soon (that is if I-84 stops burning). To those who live in kalifornia - Become a gang banger, you have more Rights that way.

Most folks I've talked to who think their rifles will be next are having a rash of boating accidents where the firearms have fallen overboard.

As for Ammo bans...if I'm not mistaken, I can ORDER ammo from Cabela's et al????? So tell me agian what good.....

(Simple answer: It is a fight they think is against the 'gun culture' - Tony Blair, wether it does any good or not, and in England crime is rampent and murder has not dropped (or risen). )

Take a look at a pair of kangaroo-leather boots or any standard-capacity magazine in a Cabela's, Cheaper than Dirt, et al, catalog: "Due to state law, "X" cannot be shipped to California."

You're OK if you have out of state friends or relatives to act as a middleman, but...

drive over to Nevada....buy there...or any adjoining state. Get a p.o.box in another stae and then have the 'mail' forwarded from there...or use relatives. Scr*w Kali and any other state playing this tune. Beat them at their own game.

I've got plenty of friends in the former CSA who will help. Pluse NV is 1.5 hrs away.

In regards to CA expanding AW list on Monday (see thread above) I think I lost any I had during an accident at Lake Tahoe.

I am lucky in this case, I dont "own" any firearms, niether do I live in CA (Thank God). Seeing how things are coming along in this country I think I am going ot move to Cuba, were atleast you know what the government will treat you and all the rest of the Subjects. Also there is no false scense of living in a "Democratic Country" down there. Today as I see it the Bill of Rights, it NOT worth the paper it was written on, I mean the "government" doesnt care 2cents about it, and we just let them do whatever they want. blah! blah!

Moving to Cuba!

Dig the holes NOW, so the grass will grow over it by the time confiscation time arrives. Damn those unreliable, tip-prone boats!!

To whom it may or may not concern.

Large diameter PVC drain/waste pipe is reasonably inexpensive, comes in 10 foot sections, is easily cut into 3, 4, or 5 foot sections with a hacksaw, and is waterproof. PVC Primer (the purple stuff) and Cement (the nasty, sticky stuff) can be used to "cement-weld" end caps or even threaded "female" fittings on each end. Of course the "male" screw on caps, when the threads are wrapped with a couple turns of Teflon Tape, make a nice, watertight, removable plug which can be secured with a wrench to insure water tightness.

Why, they can even be stored in the ground, not that anyone would want to do this. Similarly, with a little planning and effort, and a few more fittings, long storage tubes can be coordinated with a home's plumbing and thus provides an inexpensive yet convenient way to hide things "in plain sight," although it's admittedly not as effective as other storage locations, depending on one's purpose.

When metal objects are stored in them, it is a good idea to oil them well, and add a pack or two of dessicant to minimize any problems with rust.

If the endcaps are cemented on, the storage tube can be opened at a later time with a hacksaw; if the threaded fittings are used, opening is even simpler.

Shorter sections of pipe, outfitted similarly, make great waterproof storage containers for multiple smaller items like screws, nails, marbles, or other objects of similar size.

How long do you think it will take for them to pass a law making it a felony to bury a firearm?

"[Even if there would be] few tears shed if and when the Second Amendment is held to guarantee nothing more than the state National Guard, this would simply show that the Founders were right when they feared that some future generation might wish to abandon liberties that they considered essential, and so sought to protect those liberties in a Bill of Rights. We may tolerate the abridgement of property rights and the elimination of a right to bear arms; but we should not pretend that these are not reductions of rights." -- Justice Scalia 1998

Rent a tank of nitrogen from your local welding supply house. Before you seal up the tube, use a long, narrow blowpipe to gently displace the oxygen from the tube and replace it with the nitrogen. This will help with rust.

OTOH, it's been said (on this forum): if things get bad, we may have to bury our guns. So, how bad will things have to get before we dig them up?

In 1776 it was bad enough to "dig up the guns" after England passed a few taxes. Wonder what they would do today??? Invade Britain???

God I wish there was a time machine to bring the Founding Father to this time, and let them see what has happened to America. I think they would commit suicide, on the spot.

I like that PVC plan. I think I will always keep but one in such storage. If they get one, I can go retrieve the back ups as I need them.

I'm not affected, but I would like to be just so I could NOT comply.

What form would civil disobedience take for gun owners? Wish it would happen. Even the Canadians are putting up that type of resistance.

Let's put it this way,

I would not, indeed will not, bury any firearm that i could replace.

In other words, don't test the registration/confiscation laws with dad's vintage Browning BAR or something like that.

Test it with the $300 MAK. Then go to Nevada and get another.

Bury the vintage/antique/family heirloom.

Shoot, if it comes to all that, we don't need to be burying anything longer than a few days.

What we'd need to be doing would be to take up hog farming in a serious way.

You can be the farmer, or you can be the feed.

Very True.
