Here is the Glock 40! Complete with milled slide!

I'm not skeptical or anything :D but SKUs don't mean anything (you can have a SKU without a product, no problem), photos don't mean anything (anyone can create a photo of anything), and I don't know if being on a dealer's list is significant in any way. It might be very significant, I'm just saying I don't know if it really is. Being announced and shown at a SHOT show is also rather meaningless--doesn't mean it's a production item and I've see it take 2 years for other guns shown at SHOT shows to show up for purchase (Kl-Tec comes to mind).

So, I'm excited that's it's a possibility, and very hopeful--it simply won't be of much importance until I can actually order one. But I AM thrilled at the possibility Glock is introducing another 10mm.

What I was referring to in my first post, not that anyone else might care, is this common aspect of the dust cover area (many Glocks I've seen share this annoying little 'warp', but the G40 photo is the worst I've seen so far):

The amount of flex in this area of the gun bugs me, too, but I can't think of too many cases (if any at all) where it really matters or affects any aspect of firearm performance. It's simply something I find an irritation I wish they'd 'fix'. When I come to mounting an optics mount on the tac rail of my G20, I'm hoping I don't find the rubbery nature of this part of the frame is an issue. If it is, then I'll have a 'logical' reason for buying the G40--as if I need one!

Anyway, back to the photo. What makes me a little bit skeptical is the photo itself--has Glock, in the past, shown its products used in conjunction with another manufacturer's product in a co-marketing scheme like that shown here? Lights, for example? I've not noticed, but it seems a bit odd, and in particular to imply by the photo that Trijicon is preferred, recommended or especially well suited to the new lineup. Seems they would have at least used a sanitized or mockup product. Just curious about that one.

RE: the 'warped' dust cover. You guys, this is a super easy and fast fix. It literally takes less than a minute to resolve permanently if you have a hot water tap on your sink like for tea. If not, bring a small pot of water to a boil.

Remove the slide from the gun so you only have the frame. Dip the dust cover under the boiling water right up to the front rails. Let it sit for about 10 seconds, then place the frame upside down on the counter or another flat edge surface and apply light pressure to flex it. Hold that for about 30 seconds to a minute as it cools. Reassemble and see if it's straight, if not, do it again. You don't hurt the frame at water boiling temps.

Once it's fixed to your satisfaction, it will stay that way. I've done both my G21 and G17 and they have remained that way through quite a few rounds. If they don't, it's a quick fix.

This is just a result of the molding process. As we all know, Glock's polymer is very flexible. As a result, when you remove the frame from the mold and it dries, that front area has a tendency to curl slightly.

Give it a shot. Don't worry about damaging the gun. You can't.

If my explanation isn't clear, there are some videos on YouTube that walk you through it I think.

Thanks for the tip! I'll do it. I wouldn't have expected the polymer material to respond so well at that relatively low temperature--never would have thought to try it.

I know it's a stupid-minor thing--but sounds easy to make go away. I wonder if extremely careful use of a heat gun would do as well. Sounds a bit more risky though.

I'm sure it would work, it's just not necessary. For me it's easy since I have the near-boiling water on tap from the sink. I just run it under the tap for 15-20 seconds and then press it out. tada, straight as an HK. ;)

Couple of questions for those of use with Original G20's.

1) Will it take the same G20 magazine? (I have 15 or so of them)
2) How supported is the case?
3) Will it not have Polygonal Rifling?

I might be interested if the answer is yes to all 3. I put a long KKM barrel and comp in my G20 so Other than the adjustable sights (would be really nice) I am not sure what it brings to the table if the answer to the 3 questions above is anything other than yes.
