Henry Leverguns

I was out shooting the Henry H010 yesterday and got it up to the 300 round point but I was admiring the rifle as I loaded 4 more shells in and noticed that when I dropped a shell in, the lever would pop open a little and knock the bolt back some. I am not sure if this is a problem because I do not know how long it has been doing this.

Any advise would be appreciated.

If you think you have a problem, discuss with Henry.
They know more about their products than anybody here.

Yep, I am a "Henry fan boy". and always will be while they are making the best leverguns out there.

and yes, Henry will know more about their rifles than anyone on here , but why bother them if it is not a problem.

My new Henry in 41 mag is a nice shooting lever--but it might be a stretch to say it's one of the best ones out there. I've noticed the screws holding the thing together tend to work themselves loose after an extended shooting session and need to be regularly checked and tightened, and a minor complaint, is that the cartridge feed mechanism is sensitive to gravity/orientation, I've had cartridges jam when working the lever when the rifle is held with a "list" to the side.

I have only seen one levergun that I have owned that I would not own another of and that was the BLR .22. It didn't fit me at all and just didn't feel right when shouldered.

what wins me over for Henry is the customer service. Not to mention, all of the Henry rifles I own are extremely accurate (2" groups of 5 at 100 yards). and they are durable. I do not own any of the brass receiver ones, but I own all of their steel center fire rifles and a .17 and two .22lrs. I have nothing bad to say about them.

As I told T Pro in a PM, I have two Henry .45-70s here, but have not fired either.
Waiting for a new Marlin to do a shootout review.

Over the years I have worked with several Henry centerfires in .357, .44 Mag, and .45 Colt.
I have never experienced the issue of a lever popping open slightly while loading.

I also have never, and will never, "drop" rounds into the mag tube.

The barrel is angled just enough to allow the rounds to slide slowly down the tube.
Never is & never will be the barrel pointed straight up & the rounds dropped to fall straight down.

If that's what he's doing, it may possibly be causing what he's experiencing.
Just a thought.

I have a .357 and .45 Colt Henry's and have never experienced the lever issue. I also cannot remember dropping rounds in the tube vertically, though!

Th Bl is a .22, the BLR is a centerfire. I wouldn't have a BL either. I cannot stand the short stroke lever and having the trigger come down with the lever just infuriates me.

Thank you Targa! He absolutely love his new birthday rifle. It'll last him a lifetime I'm sure. Im very impressed with that little rifle, and may just get me one!
