Henry Frontier model

A little while ago I bought my son a Henry .22 carbine for his 9th birthday. He started at 6 years old with a single shot Savage Rascal and it was time he had a repeater. I was very impressed with the quality of Henry rifles, and he took right to shooting his new .22 and having a blast on our range. Here's a short video of his first outing.

I got to shooting it with him and found I was having as much fun as he was. I was plinking plates, making can's jump, and even hitting an 8" steel plate at 100 yards using .22 shorts! It's a ball. Anyway, I ended up buying one for me! I got the Henry Frontier model because I liked the Octagon barrel and longer length. It's a nice little rifle and the bluing of the barrel is really quality done. It has Marble sights front and rear, with a semi buck horn rear and a nice brass bead up front. I shot a 5 shot group to see where it was hitting and decided to drift the rear site just a tiny bit to center up the point of impact. I raised the rear sight also to the middle of the ramp and then shot this group. I'm really impressed with these rifles, and their smooth actions are remarkable. I'm also very impressed with such accuracy. We can hit cans and even empty shot shells easily. Thank goodness .22 rim fire ammo is available these days! The group below was shot with CCI Mini Mags, we also shot Winchester bulk, CCI "Quiet", and some .22 shorts. Everything feeds well out of both. I can't say enough about the carbine for a youth or smaller shooter (or an adult who likes a smaller rifle), and my Frontier model is really a high quality .22 rifle.

When he shot at the can and looked around at you at made me laugh out loud. He was seeing if Dad noticed he missed. Great video. I love to see kids shooting guns. My sons are grown now but I had a really fine time shooting, hunting and fishing with them.

I want a Henry 22 mag for myself. They have one at Academy sports I looked at a few weeks ago. My BIL law wants a rifle for he son who is about 13. He wants bigger than a 22 and I suggested the 22 mag. He is also a lefty. I gave him a Mossberg 410 bolt and he likes it. I have a short video of him shooting it.

Thanks everyone. HAHA, yeah he did sneak a peak over his shoulder to see who's watching LOL. He sure smiled when he blew up that can haha!

Yesterday we went out for some more fun with our two Henry .22's. We shpt steel plates, jumped some cans, shot apples, and even shot some empty .556 brass of the pallet target frame. I set a card in a post and asked Nick if he could split it. We backed up and I showed him how to line up until you cant see the card edge. He split it on his 3rd shot!! These two rifles are so much fun!!

Its great to see a Dad teaching his son to shoot. We need more fathers like you and more son's like yours.

A little advice Shoot with him every chance you get . One day you will look around and he will be living in his own home . It happens fast and it will be a lot harder to find the time to play .

My son is 45 years old and lives 50 miles from home now .
We still get out and shoot just not as often as I would like .

I think about all the ammo I bought/reloaded and it real means very little compared to the time we spent together .

You will learn as much or more than he will .
