What is better for me, Ruger KRH-44 or Glock 20C

Both these guns would be great for packing in the woods. Would I use them for home protection NO. You shoot that .44 mag in the house that bullet could very easy end up three rooms over or at your neighbors house. And the blast would be deafening Would think the .10MM would be about the same. If you reloaded you could tame them down some but don't think you do

I do not reload and I don't think I will since I need another hobby like a hole in my head. As for the 44 mag, I can use a 44 special. As far as the 10mm goes, different grains are available as found here...

I am a big fan of the Glock and I own several. That said, I would go with the RedHawk. You can use the hottest magnum loads when you might be in danger of bears. For practice and home defense, you can use the more manageable .44 Special.

We're on to the second page and no one has yet mentioned my favourite advice when it comes to these "what calibre for bear?" threads. I think I read it here somewhere and it makes me giggle every time I think about it. So, here goes:

Go with the revolver. But make sure you file down the front sight first.

Why? You ask. For a faster draw?

No, it's so it won't hurt as much when Mr Bear takes it away from you and shoves it up your a**...

However, I'm not sure if this applies as much to black bears as other, larger ones.
